Yeah it’s skill in itself juggling all your bits and bobs. Once you get the frigate it opens up a bit and you can use not only the frigates storage but also the storagd on your other ships. I’ve got 4 Starships now but I’ve managed to reduce their inventory now that I have a bigger ship and and exosuit. I did use one ship for bones and high value sellables and then used that ship for one trip to the station and sold it all.

Condense carbon to lighten the load and refine copper to Chromatic metal straight after you’ve mined it to save space.

MikeKay1976 Publish time 2-12-2019 05:19:58

The thing is once it is chromatic metal you can't use it as copper can you (ie for the things which need copper)

Atmos Publish time 2-12-2019 05:19:58

You can never have enough Chromatic Metal. Copper is used in some things but Chromatic Metal is the best thing to have. You can alway mine extra Copper if you need it.

Died for the 1st time last night (annoying too as I lost an entire space station of chatting to folk and learning words. I was ambushed by pirates (is it possible to drop cargo to save from destruction). I had swapped weapons and had rubbish missiles and in my panic could not figure out how to swap back.

I raised a few buildings. So far not managed to successfully unlock any computer I either answered wrong, didn't have required item or didn't have an atlas key.

Still , made a little progress. Desperately want that cargo ship... Oh and how long before the Stargate system is fully operational?

Thanks

(Thinking about it this is no longer about VR I should migrate over to main thread)

Don’t think you can drop cargo no.

The Stargates on the Stations? I’ve just spent the afternoon using them to jump from station to station unlocking ever exosuit space. It’s gets more expensive each time you unlock one by 10k.

I’ve also got a stargate on my Base so it’s easy to get back to without using the stations.

I’ve got 3 guys working for me at my Base each assigned to research different technology.

I had a good session on this last night. Have a few issues some maybe VR related

I think I hit a bug last night either that or I have a general missunderstanding on what I was doing. I got my 1st freighter. Wow those things are massive , I think it is basically the same as the massive crashed one I found (are they all the same or do they vary like the small ships?)

Anyway the game is telling me to build a base on it however it tells me to point to build menu. When I do theholographic build wand pops up for a split second then it closes. The rest of the UI was working. At this point it was 1:20 am so I turned off . Is this a bug or stupidity?

I am finding myself a little overwhelmed. I have 3 or 4 main missions on the go and some side quests. I can't seem to be able to stick to 1 thing and keep getting side tracked.

I know you can call your freighter to the system you are in but I imagine to do that you need a lot of fuel? *** Edit sorted it is free to passively jump to the system you are in it just needs fuel if you plan a super long range jump***

Oh last question. (Edit sorted) ***apparently you can set in the output how many to refine then It stops on its own *** Say I want to refine 50 units of copper but not all of it how to I take 50 units? At moment I am putting everything in which may not always be what I want

Thanks

Your freighter sounds like the same as mine. Yes you can get much better ones by just frying into one and talking to the captain. I’ve seen one go for 40million. But I haven’t changed mine yet.

To use it you have to build a command room just down the corridor from the captains room. Then you can send the smaller frigate on missions while you do your own thing in your starship. If you have other starships they automatically appear in the hanger and you can jump in any at will.

At far as I can tell the frigate doesn’t use fuel when you call it a bit like using the teleporter.

When it comes to the refiner I fuel it with carbon insert the copper refine all of it to get rid of it and open the slot again. Put the chromatic metal in my ship and then put the remaining carbon back in my suit. You then have two options carry the refiner in you suit for another time or just leave it sitting there. If it’s a really good planet I would build a base computer next to it so you can find it later if you return to that planet.

I’ve got a few bugs of my own I found a crashed frigate where I needed materials from my own frigate in space. I flew out got the materials but then lost the location of the crashed frigate. There’s no coordinates to find it again and that line of story won’t progress until I find it. Really frustrating.

Hope this helps @MikeKay1976

Think I’ve hit over 100 hours now.

Good things came. First I finally found a base which I broke into where I found the blueprints for the Atlas Pass v1 and v2.

I also found another base with an S class Multi Tool. Bought that.

I’ve also not only maxed out my Exo slots but Ive added 9 cargo slots too.

My base now has 4 workers which has an array of solar panels and batteries, A mining rig and well as an autonomous mining rig.

Finally I got to my first water mission too where you have to dive to reclaim a crashed ship.

Epic!

I had a gaming day yesterday purely aimed at NMS. Am gonna paste my experience from another thread rather than type out again.
I was in the Nexus and someone randomly gave me 3 items worth a total of 75 million credits. I am sure they were being kind but actually it removes the fun from the game. As such I need to blow the money and fast. Rather than getting nothing from it at all I was wondering how is the best way to find the absolute best freighter in the game? Mine is worth 12 million credits. The best ones come in at over 100 million so i wont be able to get that but hopefully something in between.

I don't want to spend on starships or personal weapons as I would like to get hold of ruined ones of those and fix them up myself.

Which brings me onto my next point...... (this may be covered already in the NMS thread or here) I didnt do this but i actually wish i had....

Decline your 1st freebie freighter.....the 2nd time you are offered one - which will be 6 hrs or so game time later - it will be a large one as opposed to a medium one.

If you want to make sure you get the best one in the game save before you jump into the system with the fight to save the freighter... (if you jump iin once and there is a fight, if you quit and go back to save and jump in again , that fight will be there but the freighter will be different as it rolls the dice each time you jump into the system. It will be the same basic design but it is random whether C, B A or S rated.

the stronger the economy the greater chance of getting the S class mega freighers...or so i have read.. i just took the 1st one i was offered and am not starting again!.

i found my 1st barn find, (salvageable ship)

only snag is it is a bit rubbish!. barely better than what i have.
The more i think about it the more i am tempted to start again. (I will exploit the Freighter to get the best one but wont have the stupid amounts of cash which makes everything trivial)

There is a save game editor. i must admit i am thinking of getting it, giving myself a capital ship and also taking away my money. On one hand i want to earn stuff myself, as it is how i enjoy the game, on the other hand i would like a good freighter and am not going to spend ages building a base on my current freighter and then lose it all if i ever come accross a capital class one.

I think Ivd now completed the main story. I’m now told to go to the Galactic centre. Don’t think I’m ready for that as I’m still building my main base. I’ve got 2 copper mines facilities pumping out more than I need now. I guess I’ll have to start selling it.

I also built the eco craft base and now get to drive the buggy. That comes with its own side missions.

My farm is cooking up all sorts of plants.

For completing the main story I was given a A class freighter. Nice but I still had to spend hours repairing it.

I still need to find the remains Atlas Stations.

How are you guys getting on? Still playing?
