Buy it, no question. You won’t regret it.

It’s beautiful, it’s entertaining, it’s rewarding.

It’s a grind only because everything needs power and you get power from mining. Your suit has slots for mined minerals and they fill up quickly so you need a better suit or a bigger ship or s better multi tool. You can find better ships but they need repairing so more mining the right minerals.

But in between the mining you can diverge and do the missions or travel to different planets to complete story elements. You’re never locked in to do anything so it’s only a grind if you concentrate on mining for upgrade purposes.

NMS is one of the biggest games to happen to VR in 3 years. It’s vast, it’s epic, it’s a time sink. You can lose yourself and you will wonder where the hours have gone.

For £20 it’s a steal.

It is, but you won't notice it, at least not in VR. I'm not very far into the game, but there always seem to be distractions that pull you away from the grind.

It's a tad more expensive than that at the moment, at least on Steam. But I would still gladly pay the full price since this is going to soak up hours.

I’m underwhelmed by NMS at the moment. After playing through hellblade, vanishing of eathan carter and the likes of Skyrim and fallout 4 at a glorious 90fps. NMS just doesn’t feel that polished yet.
It seems to run at 45fps for most of the time on default settings. I dropped down the settings and it seems to improve the frame rate either the downside of looking a bit arse.

Is anyone getting a solid 90fps on this with default settings?

ArmitageShanks Publish time 2-12-2019 05:19:55

I'd be surprised if anyone gets 90fps TBH. Dropping the settings seems to makes very little difference to the framerate on my modest rig, so I have most of the settings on ultra, a couple on high, and shadows on enhanced. AA and HBAO disabled.

If you're not getting 90 or above and fall somewhere between 45 and 90, you may as well ramp up the eye candy imo since it's going to lock at 45 in any case.

I’m running an i7 7700k and a 1080ti at stock speeds. I do get 90 FPS but it’s the fluctuation that’s bugging me

Atmos Publish time 2-12-2019 05:19:55

I can confirm the same happens on my rig. There seems to be a 45fps lock in regardless.

Aha. so maybe after a few more updates it may smooth out. I seem to recall Hellblade ran like a bag of bolts when it first came out as well.

I have ended up buying it, £17.99 from CDkeys so not too bad. Im going to try get an hour on in tonight and see if my 1070 can cope in VR.

After the small update this evening it seems to be much better. Is there a way to restart or delete progress?
