HP Pavilion dm-4 1050ea broken hinge

Hi,

Not exactly sure if this is the correct part of the forum for this question !!

I have a HP Pavilion dm-4 1050ea laptop with a broken hinge and since it broke, I have had it in its laptop bag ever since.

It's practically brand new, as I never really used it a lot, I know it's reasonably old in how many years old it is.

So I am on a quest to try and fix it and actually use it again, as it's reasonably a high spec laptop (for me anyway).

I think I have found genuine replacement hinges on eBay, but can I find anyone that will do such a repair...no I can't.

There is a video I found on YouTube and there is a guy actually repairing the hinges on the exact same laptop, but there is no way I would attempt this.

Anyway, I'm looking for advice on if it is worth getting this fixed, if it's a big job for someone who knows what they are doing etc etc.

I am in the Reading/Wokingham Berkshire area and I'm willing to travel if anyone knows of a person or company who do such repairs.

I have attached a few photos of the broken hinge.

Thanks

Looks like it's 8-9 years old so it's not worth spending much on it at this point. You can buy a similar laptop half the age for under £150.

I can't help with how much work it is and how much it'd cost to pay someone to do it but it seems unlikely to be worthwhile.

It looks like the hinges for an HP dm4 are about a tenner so it might be worth attempting it yourself, or giving it to a friend or family member who fancies a go.

Thanks for that, I may give it a go myself.I'm surprised that I can get a similar spec for £150, I must be looking in the expensive shops !!!

I can't vouch for the companies as I've never used them myself, but it should give you some idea of what's available.
