Desktop PC popping noise problem

Hello,

My desktop PC (HP Omen 870 series) started producing popping noise since the clean installation of the OS (Windows 10) couple of days ago.

I uninstalled/reinstalled soundcard driver (Realtek), disabled video card related sound options (Nvidia HDMI audio), set minimum processor 100%, disabled sound effects, turned off exclusive mode.

And LatencyMon analysis says one or more DCP routines that belong to a driver execute for too long, that's why there are drop outs, clicks and pops. It also says it could be relatedto network related, wlan, power management, CPU throttling.

Wlan is turned off, no cpu throttling as far as I can detect, I also turned off powersave mode or whatever in BIOS.

Yet the popping noise persists.

Any solution would be highly appreciated, thank you.

This popping noise is coming from the speakers/headphones and not directly from the PC?

If it was triggered by a reinstall then a driver issue seems likely. Where did you get the sound drivers from? Windows update, the Realtek site or the HP site?

p.s. Are you re-enabling stuff as you go along? Leaving these sorts of settings changed can cause other quirks in the long run so it's best to put them back to default once you're satisfied they're not the issue.

The popping noise is coming from the speakers. I use HP support Assistant for drivers.

I've changed settings of sound to solve the issue, other settings I have not changed.

Does "HP support Assistant" also have a module named "HP Power Assistant" (or something like that ? ). In the past this "HP Power Assistant" created a lot of issues (similar like the ones described by you).
My two cents: get rid of "HP support Assistant", as well of any fancy HP apps. You don't need them. Let the OS as clean as possible.

Well, I've checked and as far as I can see there's no such "HP Power Assistant" anymore. Thanks for your reply anyway.
