I went to charge my camera and nothing so i took the usb out of the plug and put it in my pc the charging light was flashing,So i used a ipod plug adapter and it worked is it ok to use any adapter plug? like a ipod or a mobile phone one ?

Yes. You can use any reputable USB charger or supply.
I use a USB mains charger, a car charger and a Power Pack (AUKEY 20,000 mAh from Amazon) plus a mains battery charger for the Panasonic batteries.

I'm surprised that the Panasonic AC adapter has packed up, it seems so robust, but in practice it is just a USB charger. I used to use it to recharge the AUKEY Power Pack. I now use a "Syncwire" 4 port USB mains charger.
IMO the most useful camera supply is the Power Pack, it's (obviously) portable and will run or recharge my 750 for a 12 hour period before requiring a recharge itself.

Thanks, I was not happy to find out the plug adapter stopped working, i plugged it in to charge and thought it didn't need charging as the red flashing light wasn't blinking, so took the camera out only to find it wasn't fully charged. Disappointed and surprised like you with Panasonic on the plug side. I'm definitely going to buy one of those power pack charges, my daughter has a Belkin one for her iPhone.

Things do tend to pack up unexpectedly and its annoying. I don't know about other manufacturers but Panasonic opting for a USB based power supply is a big plus.
One extra I bought were additional USB to camera cables. Known as DC cables, they are available from Panasonic accessories at around £4.28 each. Part No:-K2GHYYS00002
I carry a spare in my camera bag to use if the camera runs out and I do not have my AUKEY handy (it is heavy and so not easy to carry around) You can usually find a USB charger lying around in most houses!data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I think that's a good idea buying a extra lead, Really got to get another battery any suggestion on what battery to get i know the oem one is alot.

The two batteries for the 770 are the VW-VBT190 and the VW-VBT380 (i.e. twice the capacity of the 190)
Amazon will show you a whole range of third party manufacturers. I have not bought a battery to fit the camera for a couple of years as, I explained, I use the power pack to run and recharge my 750 (same batteries as the 770)
With an earlier Panasonic, the 700 I bought a third party battery from Dot-Foto and this has worked fine. Dot-Foto now supply VBT190 & VBT380 look-alikes.

When I bought the 750 there were no third party battery suppliers, there were only the expensive Panasonic ones. This is what forced me and others to go down the power pack route. This has worked so well that I have kept with this method of power supply.

I purchased this battery and charger for my W850 Panasonic (same battery as mentioned by Terfyn)

Fits camcorder and works fine. Only thing is the charger has a built in USA 2 pin plug rather than the figure of 8 slot. Chasing them up to get the correct charger for the UK!

A word of caution - on my Sony CX410 - their USB plug ( part of the Camcorder), appears to need a special Sony adaptor to USB.... this has a larger input-housing . . . so I presume Sony's idea of "USB" - isn't mine . . . .
However, I only use the Camcorder's DC-Power socket for charging, which appears to be somewhat more substantial than normal USB-pins.   (The USB may be Data-only.).

Connections are a weak-point in most Tech-Gear, which Mfrs don't really address - I guess Buyers are too interested in the Zoom and Low-Light features, to be concerned that feeble connectors may junk their Investment.

That Az charger-deal. . . looks a good set of Options... hope they sort-out the US-Mains-plug thingy . . .it could be 110v ac. version.

The charging and power input point on the Panas is a Panasonic DC cable, so called because it has a, so called, DC power plug on the camera end and a USB plug on the other. The USB camera socket is for data transfer only.

I do hope it's not the camera some how blowing the USB plug, I had been using a IPod usb plug and now that's not working, Seems to have a little power as the LCD screen on the camera flickers but it doesn't charge. Tried it on the ipod same thing the screen flickers like its putting out only a small amount of power.

EDIT: Seems to be charging my old sat nav but not the ipod or camera.
