If it's like the 750 then the small LED at the back (next to the battery) should flash slowly. As well as the power pack, I use a mains to USB charger with 1A and 2A outputs.

Yes my camcorder led flashes when its charging well it should, maybe the ipod one has had its day's its 5v 1Amp output. I will try out one of my samsung mobile phone charger i think they are 2 Amp.

I think the Panasonic OEM was 800Ma

Really mains chargers and 12V car chargers are available in all shapes and sizes. Just look at Amazon. The one I bought covers all my charging requirements (a "Syncwire" mains to 5V USB with a choice of plug heads) it covers my camera, all my power packs, phone and other USB based items like my Grandkids IPods etc.
I would suggest you invest in a robust charger (multiple outlet ports and interchangeable plug heads) to cover all your needs. They cost between £8 - £16 and have spare capacity when it comes to charging a camera. Incidentally the camera will take what current it needs so a charger with 1A and 2A outlets will easily cover the camera charging
I view these small all inclusive plug head types with suspicion, some cheaper ones have caused fires.
