sony hdv camcorder firewire out... laptop hdmi in?
hi guys......I got loads of mini-dv tapes, recorded with my Hdr–HC1 sony hdv camcorder... cant connect to my msi prestige laptop (g51-n1pr891-cb8) via I-link / firewired cable, cause it doesent have a firewire port …
… here now my question:
can I buy a firewire-hdmi-adaper cable instead ...

...and then upload my videos to my laptop from camcorders firewire port to my laptops hdmi port...!? … I also got usb 3.0 ports, a port called SS and a port with a capital 'D' (almost excactly the size of a firewire… just ALMOST... wont fit.... I tried -.-)… that's about it …

It is almost a certain that the HDMI port on your laptop is an output only. HDMI inputs are very rare.
SS port is 'Super Speed' USB3 and D port is 'Display Port' (also only an output)
Capturing full quality miniDV/HDV footage requires a constant capture speed that USB (all versions) can't do. Therefore your only option is to not get the best quality and use USB via an adapter with compression and therefore some loss of quality.
The only input that can now capture full quality from HDV or miniDV tapes is Thunderbolt, but this is rare on Windows laptops unless paying top dollar.

Firewire is totally incompatible with HDMI.
The product linked is a con job and cannot possibly work.
There is no way to connect firewire to HDMI.
The only way to get your job done is with a full size desktop PC with a firewire expansion card added. That cable linked to is a Thunderbolt not Firewire.
Firewire is terribly supported on Windows 7 onwards. Even the correct cards and drivers are very flaky with video and often don't work correctly. You could check if you have the appropriate ports on your laptop, if you have and decide to go that way, you may need to add some 1394 legacy software.
Another option is to find somebody with a DVD recorder, some are fitted with firewire connectors, (Example Panasonic DMR-ES15EB) you could then record to a DVD (in SD) and transfer to your laptop. I've recently bought a new PC to replace my previous one, to which I'd fitted a PCI Firewire card, which captured DV faultlessly from my two Mini DV camcorders.
The new PC is an Intel NUC8i7BEH, so no way of adding a card to that! It does however have a Thunderbolt 3 port, and there is a 1394ohci.sys file in the Windows System 32 drivers folder.
I have Firewire 4-pin to 4-pin and 4-pin to 6-pin cables.
So the question is; can I connect my DV camcorder to the NUC PC via Thunderbolt 3?
It seems that I may need two or three adaptors to make the connection, but the main issue is whether in principle I can transfer full quality DV into the Windows PC - or whether the whole shebang relies on having an Apple device as the final destination!

So as you say your only option is a Thunderbolt 2 to firewire adapter and then a TB2 to TB3 adapter - I cannot find a single adapter anywhere.
