lol, no flak data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 Everything you said is spot on. However that video (and the 4k one in my 4k thread) was just for the benefit of people thinking of visiting the hotel so they can have a good idea what the hotel, pools, beach, rooms, etc look like. I've made another one for friends and family showing more of us and what we got up to but thats not for youtube broadcast data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Personally, I think the ambient (natural) sounds work because they make me feel immersed in the environment (which is great.) If you left them out, the piece would feel empty sonically and distance me from it (which would be frustrating) so I think you're instincts are good. Rough cuts of narrative films often lack ambient sounds and they are always depressing to watch...(which is one reason you never show anyone a rough cut.)
And not every video has to be plot-driven...my film "Seven Special Parks," has no plot whatsoever...it's simply a virtual exploration of coastal parks in Central Florida...and I've received wonderful feedback about it.
For your 10-second TR intro, how about something that sounds romantic rather than "network?"

Here are links to the trailer and the full 20-minute program. Be warned, though, the full program is a whopping $1.99 to download...plus you get to keep it. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 Anyhow, I think they are good examples of what can be achieved through DSLR cinematography. I hope they are helpful.

Of course natural sound is important but it must be relevant. The film showed scenes of the hotel and the beach but there were motorboat sounds and children shouting on the soundtrack. There was no sign of a motorboat or kids playing. When the fountain was shown you expect the sound of the fountain not a noise disconnected from the scene. So relevant sounds YES, disconnected sounds NO.
Take your "Severn Special Parks" trailer. When you showed the waves, the sound of the waves came across and when the picture was of cars, the sound was of traffic. So the sounds are relevant to the pictures.

I was actually speaking generally about videos that have music, but no ambient sounds at all. And the sounds you're referring to are things that were most likely happening off screen...which is perfectly fineas long as they are logical to the environment. Anyhow, in my videos, I add in sounds all the time that weren't really there, but work to create a rich sonic environment. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
There's really no "right" and "wrong" with this stuff...it's all about what works. The sounds you refer to honestly didn't bother me...but that's just me. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Terfyn is spot-on, much the same occurs to me; and I switched off earlier.
Sony Movie Studio comes with a selection of music tracks of varying length: 15s 30s 1mso you can use the same tune at different lengths, - this means you shouldn't need to chop offat the wrong point. Sadly it also means your "400 tracks" includes all those repeats! These are tracks in what appear to be different Keys, ( A,B,C,D,E,) -perhaps a musician can explain what/why . . . . Sony of course doesn't want us to know...
Other internet Music-sources do appear to offer only a single length - and this may be what OP was after.
Some short pieces are "Stings" but they are really short.
For my own films I created a 11 second Branding-tune, using Sound Forge to edit the notes as I'm no musician . . . it's use is mainly to get the Projectionist to set the levels and hush the audience - although it often fails in both. Once this is overthe film starts.TR's text would be the "Brand" and that was fine enough....
I use my Titles sequence to set audio and in the Editor, it creates the Media-Bins so I don't have to do this every time (Yes I know I can do this another way).
BTW those Old Ealing ( and all Others!) films - - -- they were made before computer-lens design and the audio was recorded using rather poor mics and it was Analogue so every stage distorted it a little...finally ending up on an optical track that was somewhat far from HiFi even in those days of valve amplifiers.
EDIT: read on another Thread
Oops... that 400 above, was really 360 tracks - They were pretty impressive I must say and I still use them.Sony is a world-class producer of both visual & audio material - and I find it difficult to believe they can't have a vast Bin of suitable stuff we can use. The By-Line means they get free advertising, so everyone should be happy.
