What to go for
HiLooking into a newer 4k TV.
Two in mind but any tips
Sony KD55XG9505
Or
Panasonic. TX-55GZ950B
I've seen both working and they both look good. They are both good but different technologies, what is your usage?Standard TV, movies 4K or HD, games?
Both have pros and cons. I just moved from XE9305 to GZ950. I watch TV using Sky Q, 4K UHD Blu-ray and NO game consoles. Clarify your main use please, your environment, tolerance to burn in, games, previous TVs, your sources and budget...what size ? You need hdmi 2.1 future proofing especially for gamer?
All these questions first.
In general, I will recommend Oled first but
There are some exceptions (but not many data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7..
Also consider 2018 TVs for value especially now (LG c8 and pana). Sony tends to remain pricey !!!! Interesting move sir, can you please share your experience as I consider your ex sony as one of the best lcd..
Keen to hear what you feel the difference is with pana oled. Thanks I agree that XE93 is probably still best Sony LED but XG95 is FALD, so probably very close plus new X1 Ultimate processor.
My reasons for moving were mainly 55 to 65 and i wanted OLED. The GZ series is first OLED to tick all boxes for me, otherwise would have waited another year. IF I moved to OLED the GZ would be the set for me but having frequented the OLED forum recently I'm nowout off by theongoing reports of screen burn across various brands and to a much lesser degree tinting and banding. I just so wish Sony would bring back a new XE93. The XG95 is a strong set apart from the blooming. I have no idea if this is true or not and I am relatively early Days with Oled
You also know how pro fald i am and still are in so many ways
However, and that’s a big one.
1. The forums are full of people looking for issues or ticking boxes far more than enjoying the pics. I was one of them.
2. Lcd have as many issues as oled.
3. I agree that burn in is still a nightmare and no real protection against it. Like plasma, it is a risk to take or not
But what I can now tell you is that I have never imagined seeing such a picture at home...that contrast when right is incredible. Nothing compares right now..
Secondly, I can’t believe how bright it is for an oled. I hardly go over 40 at night as it hurts my eyes. Oled just need to TM raise the overall ceiling by 300 nits and provide a burn in guarantee...
My point is simply that I am very happy to have made the plunge. The condition was a silly low price to minimise the risks...I got that big time like others
Now, I am enjoying the best picture I can get until mini or micro led comes in 2-3 years..as simple as that...
Dual lcd, why not...but mini led a must
Once you try oled...once you get over the weird initial blackness (dixit my son, first week was a tough adaptation as could not see details in black scenes..good settings sorted it) everything else looks washed out in comparison...
Brightness is good but that light control at pixel level is Really a Game changer.
I was wrong...I am so happy and don’t give a damn if tv burst in flames...just give me 3 years!!! That’s how good it looks. Thanks for such a helpful reply. I'm on with Sony at the moment about my third LCD in as many years with insects in the panel!! I'm sick of it yet keep being told I'm unlucky.OLED is a sealed panel so I'm thinking let's go for that and get the better picture at the same time. Remind me what panel you now have please? I'm considering the Panasonic GZ950 but it's more than I'd like to spend really so equally thinking maybe an LG. Your welcome...I had an insect on’my Oled tonight and was thinking about the lcd issues...
I got the pana 802 from 2018 and the big brother 950 was £1200 at Costco for 65îch
Could not be happier...
Gz950 is a dream but price hurts...better from sept/Oct and you will have a glimpse of 2020 in less than 4 weeks.
C9 is great too...
I will not buy an Oled at full price but the starting price is dropping like a stone...great news depending if you are in a hurry or not... Thanks, I'm tempted to follow your lead and get an 802 BUT might try to wait until the price drops and get the GZ950.
