Oh it's all give as good as you get around here
I'm tempted for some IKEA tradfri for outside, as the switch they are on is a three way modular jobby with individual switches inside ... But I don't want a hub taking a socket etc. Just looks a tad untidy for where we can store them.

I was too mean to put Hues in my 5 external up/downlighters as all I wanted was them to automate dusk until dawn, so I had the lights rewired with plugs so that I could use a couple of Wemo plugs to control them. Which for me has worked out perfectly. In retrospect I could have used tradfri GU10s although I did want to stop the family turning off my outside lights, so that may not have worked for what I wanted.

an update ahs been made to the FAQ on the Den site...it seems they wont be charging for any of the current software features...to clarify here is the updated faq regarding charges
Yes, App features that we have marketed so far will not be charged.
These include:
1. All operation of devices, in home and remotely.
2. Schedules and timers.
3. Advice on when motion sensors are triggered.
4. Socket power monitoring.
5. Notifications when lights or tagged appliances are left on.
There may be added features that we have not yet marketed that are expensive to control and monitor. If these are launched in the future, we will review whether they would require a subscription cost.
No mention of the API so not great for everyone but at least those wanting the basic control system won't have any ongoing costs.
ive now asked another question about the supposed "cloud based" system...ie is the internet required for in home control of lights and sockets.I apreciate for any external control you would need the internet but it would be nice to know it doesnt depend on the internet to do most things...in the same way that a Harmony remote can control evertything via the hub reagrdless of an internet connection

Might have an interest if they produce a double gang switch at a price I like as I am not interested in placing 12 GU10 Hue's in the kitchen.
Will have more of an interest in a simple Off/On and if dimming is required will look at the Ikea bulbs and will be running LED strips around the ceiling for if we ever feel the need for mood lighting.

I really hope that their launch goes well, because their finances are not looking so hot, 2017 Companies House returns show they are over £700,000 in the red, which with their £300,000 crowd source funding puts them over £1,000,000 in the hole. Thats’s a pretty big debt for a start-up company. I guess most of that will be tooling and initial production costs.

Probably why the prices have doubled from the initial plan.. £20 single socket, £25 for double... Shame coz this looks brilliant.. I actually prefer the rounder design over the square one.
Hope this takes off and prices drop
