How does the range extending work?Do you buy extra hubs or is it something else?
If it is extra hubs do they all need to be on RJ45 or do they communicate over radio?
If you have eg. outbuildings that the radio doesn't reach to, can you plug a hub in there using RJ45?

Best wishes
James

Hi James

As far as I’m aware you plug in the first hub and the range extenders all piggy back off that via wireless connection.

In your scenario about an outbuilding which doesn’t have enough wireless to connect you can just get another select hub rather than an extender and connect via RJ45 .

I've ordered some PIR sensors, they're battery operated so if the kids come out of their rooms in the middle of the night, or we go into theirs the lights in the hallway will comes on dimly for a few minutes.

Awesome, let me know how you get on with them.

What sensor did you go for?

I’ve been searching for an external PIR but it appears they don’t do one https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/joypixels/[email protected]/png/64/1f61e.png

Awesome, will take a look. Did you end up mounting the Pico remotes to the wall? Will be keen to see pics if so.

Here you go, please excuse the dirt we’re getting the hallway decorated so it’s covered in mess .                                                                         https://www.avforums.com/attachments/9bbdec91-9c9c-4b6a-9f82-091635a85143-jpeg.1198566/                                                                                https://www.avforums.com/attachments/b0731f4f-52e2-45c9-887e-e2c6f5636588-jpeg.1198567/                                                                                https://www.avforums.com/attachments/b0731f4f-52e2-45c9-887e-e2c6f5636588-jpeg.1198567/

That looks fab mate, much better than I thought. Do you have a backbox behind them?

I'm keen on these but will need to cover my existing switch/backbox.

shahedz Publish time 1-12-2019 21:21:05

Yep they’re screwed into the existing back boxes so cover all the old wiring and wagos.

Munzz Publish time 1-12-2019 21:21:06

Perfect, that's the solution for the bedroom sorted. I can see this getting expensive!
