CCTV

I am still considering how best to resolve my problem which to recap is that the camera above the front door no longer covers the double front gates to the drive because the shrubs between the front door camera and the double drive gates have grown since the CCTV system was installed and trimming the shrubs is not really an option because they offer us some privacy from theneighbouring house

The hard wiring to the existingdoor camera runs along the edge of the sun roof and then down to just above the front door- the wiring could be diverted so that it runs along the front edge ofthe sunroof and then drop down to the stonework below the sun roof where the former door camera and would directly fa img thedouble gates area and with no interference from shrubs and would remain linked to the4 channel DVR

That would just leave me to find the best solution to cover the front door and the path leading to it from the front single gate

The first thing that springs to mind from an earlier posting is that a Ring camera may be the answer to the door camera

I presume that a Ring Camera could be connected to my IPhone and I understand that it would transmit notifications to my phone when anyone entered the area covered by the Ring camera

What bothers me is that if that is the case when I am gardening at the front I am up and down that path many times and that would keep triggering off notifications

Is it possible just to switch the Ring camera on monitor / view only and not notification mode

Also are there any better other brands to consider now the only problem is to find a suitable front door area camera

On the Blink ones I have it is possible to schedule arm/disarm so get no notifications, also set area with a grid of where it will pick up people or not etc.
These are battery powered to so no wires!

Update / have employed a professional firm to install a new camera trained on the front double and single gates and connect it to my 4 channel DVR
I can monitor the 4,cameras on my IPcam viewer on my phone and iPad etc
They have disconnected the old camera above the front door to make room on the DVRfor the new camera trained on the gates
Just have to decide what brand of camera to choose from the many options to cover the front door area

Another shout out for the Netatmo. Love it.

We simply replaced the floodlight with that one, very easy swap. And looks good as well. And integrates with Apple Homekit.

I would have thought the professional company would be at least giving you options or prices of cameras to use?Recommending ones they know are reliable etc.

I did ask but they said cameras that link to phones is not their province so they could not make a recommendation
