Amp to go with dali Oberon 5's
Hi,I recently acquired some Oberon 5's new for 435£ which I think was a good deal and more speaker than I need atm tbh but hey, why not.
Now I need a amp to pair them too and a dac as well if possible with a top budget of 1000 for both. 600 for just an amp. I'll mostly be playing from a onkyo dp x1a portable player which has a pair of dacs in it, one for each channel so will I need a dac at all as my player has one. Bit noob question but not sure.
I was thinking of getting a older nad or naim as I used to have the old ikon mk1's with an old nad which I preferred over the new archams even.
Any advice and direction here would be great as my knowledge on amps isn't what it is for speakers.
Thanks This screams rega brio audition I think Eh?
Edit, ohhh I see. Nice little thing isn't it. Will look deeper, thanks Agree. Brio. I'd suggest auditioning them with either Nad, Marantz or CA Your Onkyo is analogue out only so no need to worry about an amp with dac included, so;
A couple of used unlikely culprits here just for balance.
Both are more amp than you’ll need, and both will get the very best from the Dalisn and will easily stand an upgrade in speakers should you ever decide to do so.

The Rega Brio is 50 Watts RMS @ 8Ω. Don't you think it's a bit low ?
Oberon5 recommended amp power is 30 - 150W ...
Really makes me hesitate. Any thoughts ? You will get around 60 ohm into the 6 ohm load that the Oberons require with a Brio. However you will have to take the room into account and how easy the Brio and Dalis can fill that room. The combination would be fine in a room of some 20-30 sq metres. Thanks Gibbsy for the fast answer !
Well the room is rather 45 sq meters... so do you think it would justify an expensive upgrade to Rega Elex-R (90 watts per channel @ 6 Ohms) ? The Elex would be a better option. It's a step up certainly from the Brio but it doesn't have a headphone jack if that is important to you. I use the Elicit-R to drive a pair of KEF R300s. I would say that the Elex is closer to the Elicit than it is to the Brio.
