help with speeding up my wifes phone
Hi all,I need some help with speeding up my wifes phone which is only about 8 months old as when she is trying to use it everything seems to take lots of time to open and use.
It is a Huawei Honor 8 Lite phone with 16gb, 3gb of which is free.
Ive ran a virus scan with avast which found no problems
Ive tried moving apps to the sd card to see if that would help speed the phone up but i dont seem to have that option.
what can i do to help her
Kind regards Mark Try backing up all your apps, or none of the apps if you don't need/use them, and contacts and doing a factory reset? I had thought of that but i only really wanted to do that as a last resort.
Is there any chance you could suggest any thing else?
if not is there any best way to do the backup/restore? I've had a look around for other ways of restoring the speed but there doesn't appear to be much that you can do. It's no big deal to do this and will probably fix the issues your wife's having with the phone.
See this link to carry out your backup.

Then do a factory reset

Then restore
On the contacts front I would also export them to a google account to be on the safe side and then it's easy to put them back on the phone from there. If you don't have a google account then set one up. Again it's a simple process and you have your contacts saved for future use. Have you checked whether this is either a rogue app or bad update for an app? Virus / malware scan coming back empty does not mean there is not an app that needs to be disabled How do i check for that please? Ok thank you for all your help but im afraid my wife doesnt want to do a factory reset but i have saved the links so if she changes her mind i will use those links Don't understand that but it's her call and I guess she will have to put up with a slow phone until it gets to much to put up with. Sounds like she doesn't actually backup her data...Otherwise why wouldn't you? Start with the latest app updates preceding the change in behaviour. Google the specific symptoms. Otherwise work through each app
A couple of years ago with my Samsung Note 4 an app called smart peel remote received a bad update that started serving takeover ads. Damn right it was disabled (pre-installed by Samsung so no option to completely remove)
It could be it is none of the above and the only solution is to back up the data and factory reset as advised. In regards to the reticence of the handset owner to reset, they perhaps should ask themselves the question if the data is that important why it is not backed up
