Mine now runs like a dog.
Not sure how you move around in VR as the mouse is not visible and you can choose either wheel or gamepad. Obviously I want to use wheel.

You need to map the navigation buttons to the wheel buttons. They're current advice is to start it in 2D first tomap the UI buttons, then restart in VR. That's whati had to do and it works fine then.
There's some good info on the ACC forums about tweaking the menu positions too

I bought it data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Wont play it till it is finished and hell i have loads of racing games
barely touched... but with a few folk hinting VR sales are not as good
as they hoped I decided to screw it.

racing genre is done for me i think if VR fails - i tried playing drive
club = a game i would have loved before vr = and it does nothing for me
now on a screen so i guess i have to put money where mouth is when devs
DO actually take a punt on VR.

good to see that VR support was their number 1 header for their patch /
new features file.

question which just occured to me... is it native oculus support or is it steamVR?(if on a rift of course! )

Eddy555 Publish time 27-11-2019 05:08:45

Not sure as I have a Vive so it runs SteamVR

MikeKay1976 Publish time 27-11-2019 05:08:45

thanks... i have pulled my finger out and asked... i will post back when i know.

i assume it will be native rift after all their 1st game was. i hope so anyway

Magus Publish time 27-11-2019 05:08:45

Just tried it with my Rift and no need for SteamVR but in all honesty, I would wait before trying it as it really does not look good. In-car is great but anything outside is a blurry, shimmering, & jagged mess.It is EA and definitely shows it.

Eddy555 Publish time 27-11-2019 05:08:46

Yeah the head translation isn't quite right in VR, you seem to reach a limit and then the cockpit starts moving with your head. It works well enough for driving the car, but it's not right yet.

MikeKay1976 Publish time 27-11-2019 05:08:46

i think they have acknowledged this bug and said it will be fixed soon.

no biggie for me anyway as long as it is fixed. i dont play EA games any more... and i have heaps of untouched racing games (still not tried the DLC i bought for AC over a year ago or pCARs2 barely....   i only bought thenew AC today as a "thanks" to the devs for supporting VR.

(the price saving over buying at launch was nice too! but even then, normally i would wait till a sale anyway)

I really like it in VR and dont find it blurry at all (well, no more than any other game).
The head movement is only an issue when going back and forward, so not really a problem when driving as you only move side to side. Still, it 'has to be' correct so look forward to a quick patch.

I think VR is where its at though. My second lap I got within 0:00:200 of my PB. After about 10 laps I beat it with a 1:57.585(which is over a second faster than my previous PB of 1:58.602).
Its fantastic being able to 'see' into the corner and hit the apex. The car seems to now go where I point it and not understeer.
Had a race with 12 AI, starting at p8 and finished 3rd which felt great and was exciting to play.

I’ve not tested the VR update yet as I’ve been completing GTAV first (the quest to complete the backlog is getting tougher when it’s mostly open world & rpgs left!)

I’m expecting to be faster and more consistent with it though especially around Nurburgring with all the blind apex’s where you really need to be able to look left/right to see where they are on a single screen it’s just guess work and memorising.
