I much prefer IPS panels (to quote - "IPS panels solve the issues of TN panels", just look better (from every angle). Also you can get IPS panels for the same price-ish, albeit at a slight lower refresh rate (144).

I get on just fine with my TN panel as long as I don't slouch, so a TN panel is better for my back too data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Thanks, thats what i thought to be honest, been lucky with my ultra-wide i never went looking for problems, like BLB etc.

Another thanks, was looking at the new Lg ips panel, but i do have concerns about the contrast levels.

Yes this is where i am unsure see, people say Tn, others say Ips.

Refresh rate i am quite happy with just 100hz, as honestly i cannot tell the difference between 75 hz or 100hz, my eyes are getting old now.https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/joypixels/[email protected]/png/64/1f644.png

@Hillskill sorry but could you expand on BF and CM please, brain isnt functioning very good at all, again old age.

I'm sure it's fine, but if you were looking for a new panel and had to choose between IPS and TN at the same price, which would you choose?

Hillskill Publish time 27-11-2019 04:14:59

lol! Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Both sham "events" but there are undeniable bargains to be had. You should at least see what comes up

Yeah, checkout ebuyers early BF and CM deals, same price as everywhere else!!! Though overclockers have a couple of decent deals up but not relevant to this thread.

I'd be sorely tempted with the LG IPS as that's been getting some great reviews as it has the response to rival a TN.
It would depend on what you're going to use the monitor for. Purely for gaming then there's more TN panels to choose from, but if you needed good colour accuracy for photos/videos then you have to look at IPS too. They all vary too so it's not a simple choice these days as IPS have improved their repsonse rates and there are decent TN panels too.

My take on it - these days given that basically any panel TN, VA, IPS can have high refresh rates and excellent response times - would be -

TN panel for egamer who needs very high refresh rates 144and excellent response times >1ms.
VA panel for a gamer on a budget who wants decent refresh rates 100-144 and good response times 1-5ms.
IPS for a gamer not on a tight budget who wants excellent colour reproduction, decent refresh 60-144 rates and good response times 1-10ms.

It's changed a lot over the past couple of years and no doubt the OLED panels will be arriving soon, just to confuse us all again!

Black Friday is the 29th November so I would defo wait like those above posted. There will be some good deals knocking about. I'd ignore the early deals currently on offer as they will change when someone offers better.
