Question Xbox One Streaming on Windows 10 Laptop IP help

Hi
I am trying to connect my laptop to my xbox but always comes up with IP address not found.
For some reason my xbox and laptop have different ip addresses. How do I correct this?

Thanks

If you not already done so try turning the console on first and then get your laptop to search for it.

I've had the same problem. Even when I type in the IP address displayed by the console it can't see it. It used to work with the same console & laptop, so I think it must be either a windows or Xbox update that's fudged it.

What kind of network setup do you have ?

An example router has
IP of 192.168.1.1
DHCP range is 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1 256 (this is the range of IP's it hands out)
Subnet is typically 255.255.255.0

So your Xbox and PC both need to have the same subnet and IP range 192.168.1.x, you can check in the network properties/settings on each.

If they are the same then problem is elsewhere,
* is a third party firewall installed on laptop, may be blocking the app
* check that windows is set to private network mode not public network
* is UPnP enabled on the router
* NAT issue with a third party router plugged into an existing broadband modem/router not operating in bridge mode

I have sky broadband and I have tried everything but cant connect laptop to xbox.
I type the IP address and it just cant find it

I have these plugged in but I have also tried without them
TP-Link 600 Mbps 2-Port Passthrough Powerline Adapter Starter Kit, No Configuration Required, UK Plug (TL-PA4020PKIT V1.20) - Pack of 2: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories

Powerline adapters wouldn't be affecting it as you say yourself you've tried without them.

It's clearly a network discovery issue and those arent easy to diagnose and fix. If you are able to get into the Sky Hub management interface, go to advanced/UPnP and make sure it's on. Refresh your network links by leaving the existing WiFi and re-join them and it doesn't hurt to do a reboot of the Sky Hub.

Other than that I can only guess that it's something on the PC side, if you have any third party anti-virus running on your laptop uninstall it, they can be a bit of a hindrance these days as the built in windows defender is better.
