6 months old xbox one x dead
Fans started to ramp up last night, after 30 minutes switched off and when turning back on message about how its designed to power off when overheating.Put a repair request in apparently i've got to pay for it to be collected via ups.
Microsoft store online where it was purchased is completely useless, and the extra warranty is apparently not worth the paper it was written on.
Fuming ha If it’s only 6 months old then surely it’s still within warranty? Yep even have extra microsoft complete cover on it, bought from microsoft store online Mine did that a while ago when playing RDR2, which was giving the fans a real work out.
I had the same panic when I got the message on restarting and it turned itself off again.
After unplugging from the mains and leaving it for 15 minutes or so, I powered it back up and it was OK. It has been fine since.
It's not in a cabinet, but there's only a foot or so clearance behind it and a PS4 sitting a couple of inches away at the side. Fans are really on a problem on RDR2 and Witcher 3, when playing in 4K performance mode. Other than that, they don't really come on, so I don't think it's an airflow issue. Mine was working great up until that point, never heard a peep out of it and i've played a lot of pubg which likes to push it a little.
It's due back tomorrow so will see what was done and if its sorted, i don't just mean a little bit fan noise like you get with rdr2 sounded like it was going to take off the stand.
Strangely if I switched to 1080p output or played video apps it didn't do it as soon as i booted up a 4k game it went into meltdown and would keep shutting down.
Plenty of space vents clean, so probably something went tits up with the cooling Where the goods are returned due to being faulty the consumer is entitled, under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended), to return the goods within a reasonable time after purchase and claim a full refund plus any other losses that have been incurred as a direct result of faulty goods being supplied, such as the costs of postage. Where faulty goods are returned the refurbishment charge, and/or delivery charges cannot be deducted from the consumers' refund. SoGA has been superseded by Consumer Rights Act 2015.
No questions asked right to a refund if a fault arises within 30 days of purchase. Presumption of fault being present at time of sale if it goes wrong in the first 6 months. Up to you to prove it was present at sale if it goes wrong after 6 months. That's what mine sounds like on RDR2 - like a 747 sitting on the brakes, waiting to take off! data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
I posted in the RDR thread when it first came out as I was so concerned by it and thought it could be a hardware problem. It's fine with everything else
Hope they've sorted it for you. Consumer Rights Act 2015
23Right to repair or replacement
(3) and (4)).
(2)If the consumer requires the trader to repair or replace the goods, the trader must—
(a)do so within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience to the consumer, and
(b)bear any necessary costs incurred in doing so (including in particular the cost of any labour, materials or postage). I changed the thermal paste in my scorpio edition and the difference whilst playing rdr2 is night and day .I would recommend that anyone who has a noisy console should do it,there are loads of videos on YouTube that should help
