In my case, they accepted a price match with Selfridges.

Yes, but I called yesterday and they answered the phone. I then filled in the online form and I'm still waiting for an answer.

I work in an NHS Hospital. All elective services were closed but emergency care was still fully active. I can imagine JL having only skeletal staff on Boxing Day who concentrated on answering telephones instead of replying to emails.

I'd be wary of 'instore exclusives'. I used to work for an independent electrical retailer in the 1980's and we used to get customers coming in complaining all the time about so called store only items from the likes of Curry's, Dixons etc. The reason they were exclusive was because they didn't have the full set of features of the standard model. The retailer would ask the manufacturer to produce a gimped model so they could sell it more cheaply.
Maybe that's the point JL are making?

John Lewis eventually agreed to the price match, but you have to pay the full amount in advance then apply for the rebate later, which can take up to a month. Earliest delivery date is the 6th of January.

Yes, that's what they told me as well. I think if you go to store, they can price match straightaway instead of refunding the difference after few days. I may be wrong.
