What's your weekly food bill?
I'm interested to know what people generally spend on food, as I think my Family food bill is too high. We shop at Tescos, and the bill is usually around £100. Plus we often buy extra stuff during the week. What's your weekly shopping bill
Where do you shop
How many people in your Family? Approx £20-£25 a week.
1 Person (me)
80% Tescos
20% Sainsburys 2 adults, 2 kids (2 and 5) = £80/£100, but includes things like nappies, wipes and other non-food stuffs, but all bought from Asda/Sainsbury/Aldi...there are no additional buys in the week, other than perhaps milk, kids consume a lot.
We all eat well (home cooked) and are healthy (fruit/veg). £50

Yoghurts, tuna, salad, fruit, cereal, milk, squash, fish, chicken, beef mince .. is a good majority of what we buy data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
Reduced the amount of veg bought and wasted by buying frozen, and we rarely buy potatoes anymore. I'm single, I'd say I spend about £30-35 on food and somewhere between £10-£15 a week on alchohol (premium cider / beer by the bottle).
I tend to shop daily at the co-op where possible, I can eat well by doing this as I can buy whatever is going out of date for a reduced price and freeze what I can't eat that day to defrost for a later date. When your on benefits you have to live like this. Girlfriend and I usually get through £70-80 a week. That includes all other things like washing powders, bathroom stuff, cleaning stuff etc. We also do eat quite a lot (both train in the gym) so plenty of fresh meat, fish, veg, etc which isn't generally cheap. I have a wife and two kids, and we budget around £500 a month for food/household products and basic cosmetic stuff like deodorant/razor blades/baby wipes etc. On top of this I spend about £60-80 a month on lunches, and eat out once or twice a month. Me and Mrs Craig-

This does include kitten stuff like food and litter, so thats about £8 of the supermarket bill. And all cleaning products etc . . includes alcahol if we get any. One of the first things we did to tighten our belts was to look at how much we spent on food. At the time we were spending about £120 per week which included too many take-aways.
My wife went to Tesco's yesterday and spent £85 which is now enough ingredients for 2 weeks. Practically all our meals now are home cooked.
Not included in this are things like bread, milk and vegetables. With the odd take-away now, we spend roughly half of what we did before.
In the next couple of weeks I'm making a start to a vegetable patch in the back garden, so hopefully from next year, the bill will come down further.
There are 2 adults and 3 children on our house. Are some of you living on beans and toast?!
Honestly, I've gone through our previous shopping bills, and couldn't see where savings could be made. We're not extravagent, buying lots of biscuits/treats etc. We do eat healthily and don't skimp on fruit/veg, and we buy some organic stuff (but not exclusively).
