Used to work in a night club a long time ago when I was still in the twilight years of college! The long strenuous hours often forced me to eat unhealthily due to not having the time to prepare and cook proper healthy meals!
One week I was eating nothing but Maccy D's, BK & KFC 2-3 times a day (7 days a week), which meant toward the end of the week my body had zero nutritional intake like proper veg, fruit and fibre. This resulted in chronic stomach pains and heart burn sensations whereby my bowls & intestines just couldn't physically pass waste as they were completely blocked up with a weeks worth of junk food!
Had to go to A & E after passing out and have the doc shove an Anal suppository up my backside... The next 2 hours were pure bliss!! data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
You could say, at the time, I was full of S***data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

My worst experience wasn't actually at the usual fast food place but at a local bakers - bought a cornish pasty on my way back to work one lunchtime (which I did occasionally from that bakers) and when I eventually took a bite I found the pasty was filled to the brim with some kind of oily rancid liquid! It was absolutely vile and I was lucky to be passing a bin so I could spit it out into that, followed by the pasty. If I'd not been on heading back to work I'd have walked back to give them a mouthful, I needed to get to work though and spent the afternoon rinsing out my mouth and drinking coffee trying to get rid of the taste. Never been back to that place since.

I wouldn't say it was just fast food places that where risky, infact the majority of the big chains have very good cleanliness and are strict on handwashing and cooking times etc, it will just be certain lazy staff that let it down. There are however a few called ''top resteraunts'' which have been found to have disgusting conditions, ie food being stored in the toilets. You also tend to find with the big fast food resteraunts the stock turnover is very high, so you're very unlikely to get a dodgy bit of meat, whereas you never quite know how old todays ''special'' is. A good judge for the hygine of a place is the seating area, if the tables and floor are all clean and clear and the bins aren't overflowing, the chances are the kitchen is the same, same for if it all looks dirty.

I try to avoid McDonalds as to me it never tastes like the ingredients it's claimed to be made with.
The only time I've had any kind of bad fast food experience was at a crummy takeaway. Ordered southern fried chicken, ate a couple of pieces quickly only to notice it was obviously not cooked and slightly cool in the middle.
The next morning I had projectile vomit and a volcanic corn-pipe.
Needed to put the bog roll in the fridge for a couple of days after. Arse like a dragon's nostril.
