Funnily enough, right as rain!

Must have a more robust constitution than us.

I've eaten eggs that were a couple of a months out of date and I never suffered any ill effects.
I also had some beef that was 3 weeks out of date a while back, although as soon as I took a bite of my sandwich I spat it 10 ft across the room. Upon smelling it, it did indeed smell rank.

You were very lucky with the eggs as you can get some really nasty food poisoning from dodgy eggs. I'm surprised they'd not turned green & rancid if they were months out of date though...

some butter - think that was about 1/2 an hour out of date

When we unpack the food shopping, we empty the cupboards first and put the new stuff at the back, old stuff at the front.

I reckon we throw less food away every year than most others do a week.

Although most of the flavour will have gone from the spices, especially the green ones like parsley, basil or chives. I never use the green ones anyway as I find they add absolutely nothing to the dish. All the others I change each year, it really does make a big difference.

We've got some organic honey we bought from a beekeeper in Portugal 10 years ago and it's still fine.

Agreed. I find out of date spices (green) all smell like tea leaves. I suspect folk who believe they have old spices as Redline thinks probably haven't factored in that they may still be using the original package but have since topped up with fresher product.

SBT Publish time 26-11-2019 05:34:39

I think everyone has had a spice rack at some time and never used it.
They are more a kitchen ornament, than anything useful.
The one we had didn't last long though, I remember my misses putting one in the kitchen one day and me chucking it out the next data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
