The meat thermometer recommendations thread

Is this forum real? Here goes...

So garden entertaining season is upon us - doing a cook this weekend.I have a decent electronic meat thermometer but for the low and slows I was thinking of treating myself to a wireless one so I can leave the lid on the Weber longer.Any good current recommendations?

e.g. just browsing Amazon I see this one:

Wireless:

Umiwe Wireless Remote Digital Meat Thermometer Barbecue Thermometer and Timer with 2 Probe for Grilling BBQ Baking Oven: Amazon.co.uk: Kitchen & Home

£14 - two probes - seems ok?

Wired recommendations:

Thermapen - various options at various prices £20-£40

Amazon.co.uk: thermapen 3

OXO - done quite a few low and slows with this - current price c. £14

OXO Good Grips Digital Thermometer: Amazon.co.uk: Kitchen & Home

I have the single probe version and it's as good as any of the other budget ones. And you may as well go budget as even the expensive ones fib about how good the range is.What I would recommend is calibrating it against the one you already have.

bought a thermapen 3 for 24 quid last week on amazon but now gone up to 30 but still a steel at that price. check out the reviews.

Thanks, but this fails the 'wireless' requirement.

sorry must learn to read.

No problem - I did create a more generic thread title, then a more specific question.I'll add the Thermapen into the OP as a wired recommendation.

You want this one:

Maverick ET-733 Long Range Digital Wireless Meat Thermometer Set - Great for BBQ, Smoker, Grill, Food and Oven - Dual Probe and Dual Temperature Monitoring - NEWEST VERSION With a Larger Display and added Features - Black: Amazon.co.uk: Garden & Outdoors

I've used mine the last two years and it's never put a foot wrong.

Thanks - that is some serious price over the Umiwe (> 4x) - anything particular extra it is going to do for me? data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

It comes with the extra probe and can take up to 4 (if it's the correct model that I have). The range is excellent, yield quality is high and it's reliable.

The link might not be the cheapest price on the net (or even the cheapest at amazon tbh).

There is this one, which is also excellent

Maverick ET-735 Bluetooth 4.0 Wireless Digital Cooking Thermometer - Monitor up to 4 Probes Simultaneously - Compatible with Most iOS & Android Phones - Great for BBQ, Smoker, Grill, Oven, Meat and Food - BLACK: Amazon.co.uk: Garden & Outdoors

My brother is getting me one of these from the US when he comes over in a few weeks, as I've seen one in action and it is very good.
