Hi, I am new to this forum, would anyone tell the principal difference between Atkinson and Keto diets? They both low carbs, what is real life difference?

Urien Rheged Publish time 26-11-2019 05:10:20

Keto is moderate protein and Atkins is high protein. Clean/Strict Keto eliminates all grains and refined sugar. No processed food, no inflammatory foods. I’ve lost 7 stone 2 pounds now.

That is a very misleading article. Diet Doctor is well known for cherry picking and even blatant lying.

Keto diet is one that has never appealed to me, just as the Atkins has never appealed either, both of which are similar to one another.what does make me wonder is how sustainable is the keto diet in the long run, whilst it clearly has results is the short term, but then all diets do if you actually follow them. Where does a person stand let's say 3 years down the road ?

It’s perfectly sustainable long term. It’s not about short term results.

Humans were likely in a Ketosis for 6 months a year when we were hunter gatherers from 1.8 million years ago! Its not a new thing. Yet the Standard American Diet has been around since the 1950s only, but is considered how humans are meant to eat?

Grains and Sugar were simply not a part of our natural diet. Grains came with the invention of agriculture and sugar (berries, honey, etc) were a rarity. We are simply not evolved to eat those things on a daily basis.

It’s not a fad diet, or a brand name like Atkins, it’s a way of eating that humans did with zero obesity problems and no ‘dieting’ or hours of exercise every day required to keep healthy. I know lots of people who’ve done it for many years and their health is dramatically improved in many areas, mentally and physically. I know someone that’s done it since 1986 with no issues.

If your interested watch the Magic Pill on Netflix. There is plenty of research into the Ketogenic diet.

Try looking up Dr Stephen Phinney or Tim Noakes and do some research. I’m not interested in convincing anyone. The results speak for themselves.
