Solar. How close are you to maximum?
Had my 3.9kw south facing solar panels in for almost a year now. Pretty good monthly yields, however not often getting too close to the 3.9kw!My maximum has been 3.3kw.
How close have you got to your theoretical maximum? 2.3kW out of 3.2kW.I'm not sure what they base the maximum on, maybe at the equator? data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 Hi
I've got 3.25KW panels and a power one 3000 inverter (east facing)
In may and June I was peaking at 3305w.
To be honest I only monitor daily generation now
Cheers
Dave Power one 3000 inverter and 3kw of panels.
The inverter all time max says 3311w, but that's an instantaneous figure and from what I've read elsewhere the Max that the inverter will do. Those kind of peaks tend to happen ironically as the sun is emerging from behind a cloud and the light gets scattered. As far as 5 minute averages are concerned I've never seen more than 2800w. Got a west facing 4 Kw array in Swindon, the max instantaneous yield according to my 3600 inverter was 3660w.the max daily yield recorded last summer was 22 Kw in one day with the average being around 15 Kw.Not bad for a west facing system though! I have a South East facing 4kW array which was installed in November in South Wales. My highest output this month was 3348W last Monday, the best overall day however was Tuesday, with 22.8kWh total generated, 8kW of this being exported. This time of year, if you have your South Aspect and ideal pitch with a properly configured inverter and panel combination, you should see many instances when the inverter is getting maxed out.
I was checking a 50kW installation of ours last week near Aberdeen, it was 3.30 in the afternoon and one of the 6kW inverters was running at 6150Wac with 26 x 240Wp panels on it.
this meant the 49.992kWp system was running at an average of 49.12kWac via 48kW of inverters.
Solar PV in Scotland is great, that level of irradiance and it was only 11C ambient so the inverters and panels were lovely and cool! What would a quarter electric bill be with a 4kw system as in what you would expect to pay out to run a 4 bed semi detached house with gas central heating I was paying £80 a month I have a 3.75 kwh system and my monthly amount is now £55 even after the last 6% increase. My alignment is about perfect though. Thanks Steve been considering install gives me idea on savings
