I think this is not the smart meter, but the smart thermostat, very different things so make sure you check it out right!

Hi bit of a long shot here but Im in need of one of these. Not the actual display but the part that attaches to the wiring.
Anyone got a spare one ?

You mean the electric meter? if so I don't know if you can get hold of them.

No, he means the sensor

You don't need a smart meter to get a display of your usage, earlier versions of these things have a little gadget that fits around the supply feed at the meter, that talks to the display bit and off you go. See How to Save Money With an Electricity Usage Monitor

The supply of a usage monitor with a smart meter is there purely to persuade you to fit a smart meter, so they can get your data. The original point of smart meters was forced by government, they did have a commitment date to get everyone changed over, but I believe they've relented on that date, because it just isn't going to happen.
The point someone write above that not all smart meters are compatible with all providers was meant to be fixed, so you could easily move between suppliers - not sure if it actually happened.

Meantime the energy companies will end up using the data the meters provide and I'm pretty sure it isn't going to be in our interests. They could move peak time to when you happen to use electricity most (evenings for example).

I understand that at least some meters provide the capability to be managed (i.e. turned off/on) remotely, although the functionality isn't meant to be implemented, it is in the specification.

Yeah the sensor.
I have a smart meter.
I was going to use my old onzo unit solely to see how much my electric car charging is costing
