What are your monthly electricity costs
I'm fairly into my tech and I'm wondering what other similar peoples monthly electricity bills are.I live in a 4 bedroom detached house within a family of 5.Two teens and one toddler.I have gas for cooking and heating. My electricity bill is about 250 euro per month. Average... This will be high to many but the house is basically all electric, . An air source heat pump, a few high end gamingcomputers and an oxygen concentration machine in use a lot of the time.... During summer, solar thermal help occupancy is basically 24/24365 with 5 adults. . The base load, is around 650 watts, 300 of which is accounted by the circulation pump for the ufh. The rest would be pressured water, ethernet, and other networking.. Peak power could be 4 kw from the heat pump. For the few times per year when the heat pump cannot provide, an oil burner comes on.. .. but that only a total of a few hours per year if even... Detached house, 270 sq m and people who won't close windows!.Cooking and washing by electrical means. , But I do use gas for the hob. Family of 4, 3 bed semi. We use roughly 5kWh per day. On our current tariff that works out at around £25 per month. I will say that since my wife and I retired our electricity costs have soared because we are at home more. Gone are the days when we worked and had a nice warm office to work in with free lighting...
Now we pay for it all so beware the increase costs when you retire!
However after you have been retired a while you will honestly wonder how you found enough time to go to work!//static.avforums.com/styles/avf/smilies/clap.gif We live in a 3 bedroom semi-detached and there is normally someone at home. Our bill us usually £25 per month. There are so many variables in just a monthly figure - we pay £34.20pm and I think this will need to go up to around £40pm.
Our rate is 11.61p per kW hour and the standing charge is 18.07 per day which is a good price I understand as compare the market can’t touch it.
We are retired so at home most of the time. Our cooking is electric and the oven is on almost every night. Our home is “not standard construction” and just scrapes into energy band D.
I have installed all LV lighting but that’s as far as I can go...
We have a smart meter although I would not recommend them to anyone... making ends meet on a basic pension is sure stressful. That's a pretty good rate and standing charge. We pay £33 but we have solar panels which took a third off our energy cost.
We also have a smart meter it is ok for recording the leccy but it does not work with gas. A known problem with EDF apparently. But I think it is good to see how much your using a day. Just so you know we were with EDF for years and years when they put the smart meter in but because they did it meant I was starting to look at prices and found they were uncompetitive so went to IRSA and it’s the best rate I could find. Off topic I guess but what is your issue with smart meters? There is a national programme to roll these out across the UK. There are big issues with smart meters - electric, gas, water - loads to read on line not only in the U.K. but also in other different countries who have them. The issues you will find seem all one way biased towards electric, water, gas companies and never the consumer.
If you are asked - don’t have one.
Only my opinion after reading a lots on the web.
