I'd like to think the CPS does not take this decision lightly. However considering they had until 11th June, and the conservatives couldn't change out their candidate anyway, and that people are innocent until proven guilty, I do find the timing questionable. I do think should have done it either sooner (it turns out they had the files) or do it on 9th of June.
I'm not saying there is a conspiracy or malicious intent, however do think the timing lacks judgement and was unnecessary.

I'd like to think there's no particular political motivation. Then again, I can't imagine the Tories are the favourite party of the police or CPS!

Why is that?

Because I always like to think the best, until proved otherwise. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I was referring to the tories not being the favourite party of the police and cps. I can imagine with federation members but can't imagine it at all from anyone else.

I may have been teasing, just a little. I do have your reputation to live up to!!
Out of jest, I was just referring to the, widespread, reporting of the Tory cuts not being received that well amongst the police. I'm sure there's some statistics somewhere though that would say they've been received incredibly well, happy happy, joy, joy.

Possibly, or perhaps some actually work(ed) in that field and understand how policing has changed and what is truly required....

The police mocked Diane Abbott. They may not favour Labour either.
Police delegates jeer Diane Abbott over comments on spit hoods
Questioned by delegates about the hoods, Abbott ran into difficulty, which only got worse.
She said: “I am aware, if I wasn’t aware , I have got that sense from the audience today, that spit hoods is a complex subject; there’s health and safety, there’s health, there is a whole range of issues.”
Abbott continued: “If the government, or the Metropolitan police, because they are actually probably the first major police force that will allow spit hoods ...”
At that the audience broke out into jeers.
And that was before she got lost on stage.

Who hasn't? Her uselessness is almost universally agreed.

And as Home Secretary she'd be their boss.
