It's only kicking off among the Democrats because they know they dont have the votes to stop him - hence this latest allegation of sexual misconduct. Corey Bookers stunt backfired spectacularly and then we had the usual pressure groups complaining - the League of Women voters even complained about him because he didn't support racial discrimination in voting!.
So having failed to stop Kavanaugh, now on the eve of confirmation this allegation surfaces that the Dems have been sitting on since July - did they really expect anyone to take it seriously?

The WH certainly seems to be taking it seriously today, Brett was at the WH at 10am this morning and the WH has been putting out fires on all the news media outlets.
Also looks like Jeff Flake may just come back to haunt Trump before his forced retirement .

This is getting interesting - Mrs Ford now declining to give evidence before the Committee under Oath.
What odds on the confirmation being delayed if the complainant refuses to offer evidence...

It's not quite as straightforward as that.
She wants the FBI to investigate first. Which doesn't seem that unreasonable.
Christine Blasey Ford Wants F.B.I. to Investigate Kavanaugh Before She Testifies
Given the sensitivity of the allegations I'm sure she'd want the grilling by the Republicans to be held in light of facts being established by the FBI.

Well if she has reported to the Police this alleged attack (she has hasn't she?) then it will be investigated like any other criminal complaint.
But if we take her at her word - there were only 3 people in the room when the 'attack' took place. So what are the FBI going to do except interview each person under oath - which is precisely what was supposed to happen next week.
Who benefits from trying to delay the process....hmm... data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

There are other factors.
For instance, she has apparently been telling friends and her therapist about this attack for many years. So trying to present this as a fabrication to prevent his nomination seems far fetched to say the least.

Surely you can see the difference between a private interview for a Police investigation and a televised interview conducted by Senators?

Hmm I'm now more inclined to believe the accusations to be true when Donny says its unfair on Bret . Not a great look when a pussy grabber says its unfair. Also worth pointing out that she was 15 at the time of the alleged assault.

"I really want to see her. I really would want to see what she has to say. But I want to give it all the time they need," he said. "If she shows up, that would be wonderful. If she doesn't show up, that would be unfortunate."
"If she shows up and makes a credible showing, that will be very interesting, and we'll have to make a decision," Trump went on. "But I can only say this. He is such an outstanding man. Very hard for me to imagine that anything happened."
He said he would allow senators on the Judiciary Committee to proceed as they see fit, but insisted again that Kavanaugh was being unfairly maligned.
"I would let the senators do their course. They have already postponed a major hearing. And really they're hurting somebody's life very badly. It is very unfair," Trump said. "Brett Kavanaugh has been treated very, very tough. And his family, I think it is a very unfair thing what's going on."
