Not sure I got that one either data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7.We used to get 10 Francs for a pound, but that didn't mean their economy was worth less than ours.

When the Euro started the argument from Europhiles was that the Euro would be strong, the pound weak and we should join it. Since then the opposite happened with the pound strong and the euro weaker, but the same "experts" still argued we should have the Euro anyway.
So I tend to be sceptical when so many of these "experts" are so biased.
It also hasn't been beneficial.
Only Germany and the Netherlands have benefitted.
CEP study: Germany gains most from euro introduction | DW | 25.02.2019
Outside of Germany and the Netherlands, the trend for the bloc was a drop in prosperity.
In France, this fall amounted to €3.6 trillion and in Italy €4.3 trillion. These reductions equate to €56,000 and €74,000 per capita respectively.
One of the main reasons for the drop in prosperity was international competitiveness, according to the report.
Before the introduction of the euro, countries were able to devalue their currencies to make their exports cheaper on the world market.
This made them more competitive globally and was a tool used to pull countries out of economic difficulty.

You haven't answered the question.
Has the Euro lost value compared to the pound since it's inception?

Do you need yet more evidence as to how the facility to alter your own currency is beneficial?
Out of all the EU countries only two have benefitted. And they are both comparatively well off. How many countries are in the EU?
Take Greece, austerity imposed on it by the EU, unable to lower its currency which would help its exports and tourism. Both are beneficial factors of having your own currency and both gone because of the EU dream of everyone having the Euro.
Or you:
If the Euro is lower than the pound does that make the Euro a disaster?
I ask as your entire thread seems to imply the pound being lower than the Euro makes the pound a disaster.

And even then that report isn't complete. Those countries prospered regardless. Yet overnight everything became a lot more expensive. I never forget it, and are still reminded of that every time I'm bad there. I'd say it is more despite the Euro they've prospered opposed to due to the Euro they prospered.

I would be very concerned if it was a historic low.
I consider a historic low for the pound vs euro being parity. Do you disagree?

For that particular example of solely the pound v euro then yes.
Whether it's bad, not all all.
I love how having our own currency is that flexibility whereas if we had the Euro we'd probably be far worse off.

Good.
So, if the pound drops below one Euro (which you accept will be a historic low) that would be an indicator of a stronger UK economy?
