Those that have been around a while know that I have taught at a certain well respected 900 year old University. The students from Private Schools were no better than those from State Schools, and that included Graduates doing PhD's.

I had my entire education in the State system and have several family using it as customers and suppliers.

Does that make it better or worse?

Also taught undergrads from state and private (maths in a chem eng department), finding little difference. But, as I've posted much about in the past, have a big problem with the dumbing down of the maths syllabus from GCSE through A Level, though very happy being paid to teach the missing knowledge. That dumbing down didn't discriminate between state and private.

Well if it wasnt working well people wouldn't be paying their own money to send their children there and we wouldnt be having this conversation.

It was suggested in the original link that started the entire conversation...data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I have no idea if it makes it better or worse. You have family using it.Are they in agreement with your sentiments? What issues do they specifically have?Do they have experience of private education to make a comparison?

That's a massive, and incorrect assertion (for a change). Some people drive Fords, richer people drive more expensive cars. Nothing wrong with Fords. The examples are endless. I know numerous people who send their children to private school for the status.

Wow - lot of questions there to avoid answering my question.data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

So for them the system is working. If people didn't get a benefit from private education they wouldn't be paying for it.

What benefit would I get from giving my children Calpol over the Tesco own brand?

Plenty of parents pay for the Calpol.
