Seems Judges take academic qualifications into consideration quite a bit i.e.
Student who stabbed boyfriend loses appeal against sentence
Anyone else would have been sent straight to prison, not given 4 months to stay out of trouble and then be given a 10 month prison sentence suspended for 18 months. We need judges with a broader experience of life and not be dominated by a select group from the upper ends of society.
