Glad to see the Government have rejected the findings of the panel and refused to implement it. Despite the future international difficulties this will give us, it would have been wrong to see Assange walk free.

Walk free? Well he has not been charged.
Yes there is an arrest warrant - and we have seen families trying to get the best treatment for their child arrested- so it doesn't follow he should be incarcerated!

The Swedish police still have the accusation of rape outstanding, which they should investigate. The case might be fall apart so you can't say it is wrong that he walks free -unless you are presuming guilt.

We were critical of Aung San Suu Kyi being held, and the same UN panel agreed.

What about the elephant in the room? i.e. the US? Is that why he shouldn't walk free?

I am not sure why you keep banging on about him being charged. He is required for questioning and, when he decides to come out, he will be sent for questioning. It may come to nothing in which he'll be released. Or they may be a case to answer in which case he will be charged.

I'm not sure the US is an elephant in the room. If they want him I'm sure they'll use the standard legal apparatus to get him.

The idea that Sweden will be more amenable to the US getting him.
If the US got him here then Sweden would be obliged to protest about one of their citizens being snatched in another country.

Weirdo supporters. Reminds me of Yaxley-Lennon - some crossover, both cults.

The Ecuadorian government has withdrawn asylum to Assange and the Ambassador invited Met Police in to arrest him:

Jeepers, just saw the vid of him being escorted out. They didn't get him, they got Uncle Albert.

Interesting to note that Ecuador's conditions for the arrest were that he mustn't be extradited where he could face “torture or the death penalty”.This specifically does not exclude extradition to the US as European law requires the US to make that declaration for all extraditions anyway.

I wonder if Assange will end up having a lifelong stay in ADX Florence in Colorado?
