Yes, quite probably, but then so are most of the people in Government and rock music, doesn't mean to say they are rapists. It's not a crime to be an egomaniacal ******** as yet otherwise we would have Gaols the size of a small continent. M'lud

Why Ecuador I wonder? Is that country run by a left wing douche or something?

krish Publish time 26-11-2019 00:35:31

My comment is nothing to do with the rape charge, but with the OP jizzing himself over Assange

karkus30 Publish time 26-11-2019 00:35:32

No wonder he wants asylum.

Figures.

Can't we do what the Americans did when Manuel Noriega hid in the Vatican embassy in Panama City - Play very loud rock music outside 24/7 until he can't stand it any more and surrenders. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Including this track apparently:

Who says American's don't understand irony. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

This may have something to do with it:

"2011 April - Ecuador expels US ambassador after Wikileaks publishes diplomatic cable alleging widespread corruption in the Ecuadorean police force." - BBC News - Ecuador timeline

IronGiant Publish time 26-11-2019 00:35:36

And: "2010 November - Ecuador invites Wikileaks founder Julian Assange to live there."

While Ecuador has an Extradition Treaty with the US, it doesn't apply in cases of political persecution.

I'm afraid calling Assange a hero simply reinforces my opinion that the OP is perhaps completely deluded. By anyone's standards Assange is an absolute throbber and hiding like a girl in the Ecuador embassy does little to change that fact.

Keep banging the drum Dan, your views would be funny if I didn't think you were serious.

I'm wearing a good portion of my cup of coffee now, so thanks for that data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7.

Leaving Assange aside, I have to confess that I still feel to an extent that Wikileaks has a purpose at a sub national level. Their circumnavigation of the Trafigura superinjunction was- for me at least- A Good Thing. The attempts to do so at an international level are flawed though. Unless you can release the relevant data from all major countries at the same time, the result is hopelessly lopsided.
