Kindle for me, purely because I can carry so many titles around with me at once. I've recently started a trial for Audible too which I'm finding good so far, even more so now that it works with Sonos and I can have it playing through the house while I'm pottering about.

Have a Kindle and a stack of paperbacks, with a long-ish 'to read' list on both.
There's something magical about books and I hope they don't ever disappear, but I'll concede the Kindle is great for many things, like reading in the dark without keeping anyone else up with the light on, for convenience, etc. Generally I still prefer to buy paperbacks, but will buy the Kindle book if cheaper. Picked up a lot of 99p daily deals over the past couple of years.
Also just subscribed to Audible with the three-month Prime members' trial. Haven't downloaded anything yet as there's just so much choice. Pleased to see it's not just books, though, and that they have a number of BBC adaptations.
As for children swiping on pages, I can believe that. My wife's a teacher and says when the reception-class children start they have no idea how to use a computer but do try to touch things on the screens as if they were iPads or similar.

Another one here for Kindle, I have had my paperwhite for 2 years now and I always take it with me if I am going to be sat around, I also when it's warmer will go for walks and find somewhere quiet and read, love it.
I can't make up my mine whether or not to blow some dough on an Oasis with Audible built in and try some audio books or just go the whispersync route as I can get more books with that, but there pricey! (The oasis)

Not used to computers I can understand and my little one doesn't really know what a mouse and keyboard are for but can navigate an iPad, phone, Sky box or PS4 with no issue, but books...surely not unless they really are dumb children. They would know the difference between paper pages and a tablet, even at 2 or 3 yrs old.

We get ours Kindles from about age 6 and they use them loads.Plus they have handy features like being able to quickly look up a word you aren't sure the meaning of.

Not sure I really believe kids swiping books - surely most if not all kids start of with books still - Hungry Caterpiller and the like - so don’t buy not knowing how to use the book.
However, I can well believe being absent minded and forgetting because I have done it myself.I have an old school kindle with keyboard, physical buttons and non-touch screen.I only use it once or twice a year when holiday and I do find myself tapping the screen or using my fingers to zoom in and being perplexed for a few seconds why nothing is happening.
Cheers,
Nigel

Exactly, Peppa Pig, Gruffalo, Thomas, Mr Men etc... Age 3 we already have around 150 books I'd say...luckily I usually only have to read the same 10 or so over, and over, and over, and over again for several weeks then he switches to another load!
I'm sure 99% of kids are the same and have stacks of normal books.
