Family Holiday (Couple + Age 9 & 10 kids)

For the last 15 years wifey and I have holidayed either in Cancun or Rhodes (lindos or Pefkos). We l ike some nice food and wine, a quiet life, and quality accommodation. Dont do anything site seeing wise and not looking for anything nightlife just a little peace.

With kids for last 10 years the model has been much the same - although a kids club / similar families makes for happy friends. But not too many!!

Looking for something late this August for the 4 of us that is not as far as Mexico (just got back last weekend) and a change from Rhodos (we've been about 20 times in last 15 years). But of course we dont want to spend a precious weeks holiday on a dud.

Requirements are
- warm (>70, <90)
- within 4 hours flight from Manchester
- no more than £4000 for 2 weeks for the 4 of us inc decent food & drink (prefer B&B and then eat out)
- pool
- smart, clean, quiet (nothing with thousands of guests or screaming tour reps trying to get me to do beach press-ups).
- family friendly

Lindos/Pefkos excellent models but only so many times we can go there data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Thanks for thoughts.

Might be a little over your budget, put I can highly recommend the Pegasos Royal In Turkey
May not be your usual cup of tea, and all inclusive, but it is a fantastic hotel and some of the best AI food I have had

That is more or less my requirement although travelling from London with a 9 & 16 year old.. I'll follow this thread with interest.

Good call on the Pegasos Royal... I showed the Mrs and kids and they loved the look of the place.Wasn't cheap but managed to book 14 days for the end of July.. 44 days to go data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Any tips?

They have an a la carte restaurant which is nice as well. A few shops across the road, watch the guy with the camel, he wants money just for touching it!
If you like excursions, look at the all day boat trip to manavgat falls. It cost me about £15 each but that included lunch (fresh BBQ fish with salad) with the opportunity to see dolphins. If you have never tried diving the onsite dive school are good as well and you can see turtles (turtles also lay eggs on the beach, but staff will make sure that nobody goes anywhere near them). They have a lot of fridges around the resort with bottled water in as well which is help yourself, much better than going to the bar.
And also haggle for everything!
I last went 3 years but found it a very good hotel. I have a TripAdvisor review on it somewhere.

And if it is rubbish don't blame me!data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Just curious, did you venture out from the hotel into Alanya central?I've seen they have a go kart track and the wife is keen on the shops, at 26km, what's the best way to get into town?

Delvey Publish time 25-11-2019 00:43:08

I did not. They were building a new tram system not far from the hotel when I was their. Rome2rio.com is a good website for finding public transport options

Have you considered doing it yourself?

I mean forget hotels and B&B...Get your own flight, hire a villa with a pool, and pending location hire a car.

If you have fun as a family together you'll have a brilliant time.

This can work well, but some people do not want to cook etc when on holiday (I know you can still eat out, but some villas are in the middle of no where)

LOL We tend to eat out every night, and if you don’t like to drive then get a villa to the location you want. Plenty of choice and options to make it exactly how you’d like it.
