Things you love & hate about being abroad
I love Greece but I'm not going to miss wiping my bottom and having to put the soiled paper into a bin next to the toilet! data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 It's the same in Beirut, not allowed to flush down toilet paper. Stick in a large bin next to the toilet.Get used to it after a while. Can't the Greeks get an EU grant to widen their soil pipes? Proper gross. Love. The weather. Different cultures. The people (mostly positive experiences)
Hate. Our worthless currency (making so so many destinations expensive). Coming homedata:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 I budgeted for for £1500 for my 2 weeks in Kefalonia. My wife £1100. We are 10 days into our hols and we both have around £1400 between us and we are Self catering, eating out every night. Done an island trip so not been frugal. If we were in the UK the same time would have been a lot more expensive. Russians they are so rude horrible fudgeers Had to put up with them in Egypt a few years ago. Disgusting drunken slobs with no care for anyone other than themselves.Completely antisocial in every way possible. Really made me hate Russians. Yes Russians are a pain in the arse, definitely the rudest people you will ever encounter on holiday, so many experiences to mention. The toilet-paper-in-the-bin thing applies in Costa Rica too. Thankfully, the upside of this stunning country and it's very friendly people outweigh that.
the only thing I really dislike about travel is the coming home - once the holiday is over I just want to get back. This is where the Star Trek "beam-me-up-Scotty" transporter would be perfect. I know what you mean. We fly home this Saturday so we are just killing time at the moment. Must say this is the point of the holiday that I wish it was all over with and I can get home and back to a cooler climate, better wifi, my av system, bigger choice of food, seeing my cat and getting into my own bed.
