Confused by MOT date
My other half bought a used car in December 2017, the registered date is March 2015 so it’s just over 3 years old.We thought it would be due an MOT but the Government MOT site says the MOT isn’t due until 3rd December 2018.
She’s been trying to book it for an MOT but nowhere will book it in as they are saying it’s too early as it’s not due until December.
Can anyone please throw any light on this? https://www.avforums.com/attachments/img_0197-jpg.1000518/ Sounds like it has already had an early MoT and it expires in December. Spot on, thank you, didn’t think of that!
Just checked the MOT history and an MOT was carried out on 4th December just before she bought it on the 6th. Result //static.avforums.com/styles/avf/smilies/clap.gif It would say ‘no details held by DVLA’ before first one is done. As above. Whoever sold it decided to MOT it early Does that mean something happened to the car and an mot was required post repair to prove roadworthiness?? Not necessarily. You can have your car MOTd whenever you like IIRC Ahhhh I didn’t know that good info thanks Is it an ex motability car??? They are required to have an MOT carried out on them anything up to 3 months from end of contract (which would be 3 years and tie up with the date of registration)... you can tell by looking at the registration document as the 1st owners name will be followed by a row of numbers (usually with a lot of 4's in them).
