But being in an emergency vehicle doesn’t give you priority over rules of the road, we ‘should’ providing it’s ‘safe’ give space to those vehicles, buts it’s not an offence.

If she’s in control of children and their safety is a priority, I’m sorry but getting them out of the way is better, and then allow you to continue.

You should still drive at a speed that allows you remain in control and stop when needed irrespective of blue lights or not.

Sorry to have a dig, but risk works both ways.

They were safely on the pavement data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7I doubt they would have been any further out of the way on the other side.

Because I'm not the biggest of people, if someone cuts me up or something really stupid, then I will look to see who is driving and act accordingly.

I had assessed the risk, I had already feathered the throttle and saw that the children were safely on the pavement under the control of the lollipop lady and that adults on the other side of the crossing had taken steps back away from the crossing's threshold. It was her idiotic decision to attempt to stop an emergency vehicle on a blue light run that potentially put those children in grave danger.

As far as having priority over the rules of the road then you have little or no knowledge of the law as it applies to drivers of emergency vehicles and to the high standards imposed on those drivers by the brigades. It's true that as a driver you don't have to get out of way of an emergency vehicle and I've encountered those utterly stupid and shelfish people.
