I always thought PCP was too expensive for me, as we are talking about a good few hundred pounds per month for anything that is actually worth taking. Besides I couldn't take anything for 3 years due to some personal circumstances, 2 years is max. Not sure if that is even possible.
Another thing is I always thought that is quite a stressful way of having a car. Any dent, any scratch or just exceeding miles, you have to worry about and pay through the nose at the end. And when we talk about bad roads... well, things could happen.

It is a few hundred pounds per month, you're absolutely correct there.My understanding is that a two year term is likely to push up the price, but you never know.

I had a quick look and Velar is over a thousand pounds for 2 years. However, I started looking at PCP for used cars and prices seem a bit better.
One thing I don't understand. I know some people do PCP alle the time. They take a brand new car, drive it for 3 years, give it back and take another car. Does it mean that they have to pay X thousand pounds of deposit every 3 years?

It can do, depends if you build up any equity in the car you have.That can then be your down payment.

My mate had his brand new RR 5.0 510bhp SVR back at the dealership 3 times for suspension issues and eventually refused it as not fit for purpose.
The build quality would need researching as seemingly it’s not unusual

I don't know how wide you'd throw your net but if you'd do left hand drive, there's the Lincoln Navigator and Ford Expedition, well-equiped, petrol (and often LPG) and 4x4.

I think I have kind of sobered up from my RRS crush. I love the cars, I really do, but I cannot be constantly worried if the next bump will cause a 5k repair bill. I am quite annoyed at LR to be honest. I have traveled through quite a few forums and every time I went onto LR section, it's full of people complaining about reliability. Just unacceptable for such a premium cars.

Sounds like you had the right knowledge to start with - the only reasonably reliable LR product is the Freelander II (and evoque). If you like the bigger ones, the petrol engines from 07 on aren’t too bad. On no account go for high mileage diesel RRS or RR.
As for alternatives, Shoguns from 10 (or 11) year are apparently quite nice inside.
