VW Scirocco... anyone got one/had one?
off to look at a 2015 vw scirocco this weekend - anyone had, or got, one and can make some recommendations to check?cheers @gibbsy ? They are pretty bullet proof to be honest mechanically but obviously all due care should be taken with the engine. I had a 170 bhp tdi, a 2015 should have the 184 bhp if it's a diesel your looking at. Mine was also a DSG.
Interior wise I would check the front seats for movement when pulling them forward for people to get in and out of the back. If it is a GT model then check that all the functions on the adaptive chassis control work. You should feel the steering get a little sharper and the suspension a little harder when selecting sport. In sport it will turn in tighter.
Outside shoulder of the front tyres do tend to wear out quicker (on diesels). Brakes have a very good feel, strong and progressive. They are a delight to drive. It's been almost five years since the Scirocco and I parted company and it never missed a beat, didn't have to go back to the dealer once.
What spec and colour are you looking at? ive seen a couple - 1 at available car and 1 at a local dealer (which is cheaper and less miles).
TDI, white, both GT's at 150bhp. i need something with better mileage than my civic type r and ive always fancied these - maybe not as quick but i spend 99% of my time in rush hour traffic so meh on that front. I had one a while back, generally reliable but mine was on 19s and I have 3-4 punctures!Check alloys aren't damaged, when I traded mine in one of them was not cracked but slightly mis -shapen (but was told at the time it balanced so should be ok)
