Haha. There' nothing wrong with that FSO. I like it. I'm waiting for warmer weather so I can get my proper cars out again.

Reminds me of an 80s Passat.

I'm on my 2nd current shape E220d, and had 2 of the previous shape E's (One 220 and one 350). It's basic spec but the widescreen command.

The current E-Class is a masterclass is terrible user experience design. It's quieter than the previous shape, the cabin is miles better, the 4 pot is certainly smoother, the gearbox is genius but that's about where my love for it stops.

Pet peeves:

1) The passenger wing mirror dips when reversing, nobody can find a way to turn this off
2) The auto park is useless (worked fine on previous shape E)
3) If you let me set up an Individual driving mode (I like comfort gearbox with sport steering) please stop defaulting to Comfort each time I turn it on.
4) Navigation is verrrrrrrrry laggy
5) The keyless entry can't be used as someone will nick your car
6) re: keyless, you can't 'swipe' the door handles if it's raining
7) re: keyless, if it's raining and you stand near the car, it thinks you're touching it and unlocks
8) re: keyless   stop start. Multiple times it's all go confusing and I've managed to get out the car with the engine 'on' (but off) and tried to lock it. No warning 'bong' that the damn thing is still on. Previous shape didn't have this issue.
9) the sound system *SUCKS*. Previous shape one was 'ok', but this one is utter toilet. It's literally painful.
10) The forward visibility is shocking. Something about the position of the A pillar and the mirror, multiple times I've simply not seen a car at a roundabout. I'm an attentive driver and drive defensively (my other car is an Elise!)
11) If you're going to reconnect to my Bluetooth phone, for christssake reconnect to Bluetooth audio yeah ?
12) Voice commands are still hopeless
13) Seats aren't great
14) Winding the windows up and down doesn't seem to remove rain water on the window which is odd
15) The fuel economy isn't amazing unless you sit at 50mph
16) As you said, the 'YOU'RE GOING TO CRASH' warning gets very confused very quickly.
17) It's simultaneously stiff as heck, yet non confidence inspiring

I'm sure there's more too.

The cabin *is* lovely though.

Oh, and changing a radio station requires faffing around with the stupid controller and you can't easily do it while you're using navigation. They've done away with the 0-9 pad so even going to a preset is a nightmare.

Last loan E class I had, about one month ago, when mine went in for a checkup the method go change radio stations was the same as mine;

Either;
* swipe left or right at base of "mouse" above controller dial. A popup dialogue will appear briefly on the screen to let you know what happened. Or
*Use steering wheel controls to change the radio station. Or
* Use the lingautronic system to simply tell it which radio station you want

As I mentioned before I think, the premium plus pack I do regard as essential on these vehicles. The improvements in nearly all areas mentioned above are significant. But only if such things matter. They did to me so I got it, despite not liking the panoramic sunroof that came with it.

The linguatronic is hopeless.
The steering wheel controls are fine *IF* you're in Radio mode. I'm not, I'm in trip mode, so have to go to home, swipe over to radio, then faff about selecting a preset, then reverse steps to go back. Many swipes while I'm not looking at the road. In my old Discovery, I press 1 or 2, occasionally 4.

Also, another thing that drives me batsh*t and I really need a picture to demonstrate is with the widescreen dash on, and 'Contemporary' theme selected, the menu part is on the LEFT side of the dash, directly above the left hand steering wheel control. Which of course operates the other screen in the middle of the car. You have to operate the left menu with the right touchpad. ARGH. They could have solved that just by flipping the menu segment to the right hand side of that display.

Whoever developed the software either wasn't very good, or they never had access to an actual car to live with it. 90% of my beefs with it are software related or fixable in software.

Driving this morning and the wiper assemblybroke. One arm went one way, one went the other, then they crossed in the middle and got stuck. This car really is a bag of sh*te.
