Any Mini drivers able to help (audio question)
Hi all, got a 2014 Mini Countryman which i'm very pleased with recently.Audio wise I can play music via bluetooth which is ok, but there is also a USB slot for connecting my iphone. However, I can't see to get audio through this - from reading around the net it seems that maybe I need to connect the aux cable and USB at the same time. Is this correct?Seems a bit antiquated! I ‘think’ that that the USB port is designed to be for media stored on usb sticks or mass storage like iPods only (MP3 files etc).I may be well off the mark here so apologies if its not helpful Possibly even further off the mark but on my Android phone I have to put it into mass storage device mode before I can access files on it via USB on my PC, is there a similar function on an I-phone? I had a 2010 Clubman and to play music from my iPhone I needed a cable like this -

You needed both plugged in for it to work. I assumed one was to access the storage and the other to transfer the sound. iPhones just work everywhere data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 Depends on which iphone. My iPhone6 works with just USB connected in my 61 plate 3-series. But it’ll only play music stored on the phone i.e. so won’t play Spotify.
Although the infotainment looks different in the Mini, i should imagine it’s similar to the iDrive underneath. Iphone XS MAX, so it only have lightning connector on it. Wouldn't seem to play music stored on the phone at all for me. Iphone6 is also lightning connector. The phone ahould appear in the USB menu. Just to confirm - it should appear in menu AND play music with just the lightning cable on?
