Ford Sync (Fiesta 2016) voice control button stopped working
I've had my 2016 Fiesta Titanium X from new, and everything has worked fine until recently. Its the model with the Sony music player and integrated SatNav... non touchscreen.
The button that activates voice control on the steering wheel has stopped working.
The odd thing is that it has done this before a few weeks ago and a master reset fixed it, but this time that trick is not working.
From reading around other forums, I've also followed suggestions to pull the fuse, disconect the battery, and install a software update (to v5.09 to 5.11)... none of them have worked.
I'm pretty confident its not a physically problem with this button, because it oddly worked 'once' this morning without any extra pressure on the button... it was slow to react, but it did work.
Then after parking the car for a few minutes its stopped working again.
It does seam to be a common problem, but everyone else has fixed it by pulling the fuse... that simply hasn't worked for me.
Anyone got any ideas as to how to get it going again? Is it still within warranty? Sadly no My 14 plate does this, except with the track skip/prev buttons, it's pretty crap really but then I don't think the rest of the build quality is great.I've also had the bluetooth stop which did require the battery being disconnected to reset it all.
Sorry, no real advice, but yea, you're not alone. That's interesting, and makes me wonder if there is actually a weakness in the physical button panel.... as I'd expect a software glitch to produce a problem with the same button.
At least you have skip/prev buttons on the stereo itself... the voice control button only exists on the steering wheel. Yes I suspect that but it's not worth trying to fix it for me.
On the drive to work the buttons won't work, leave the car all day, come back in the evening and they do work. Sometimes they don't not work with a direct push yet pushing on the edge of the button does work. Crap really! Try unpluging the battery for a few minutes, this will kill all the computers. Plug back in and see if it works. I did wonder if this would be worth suggesting. Yeah, done that already with no joy.
Thanks though. This:
