Nissan Micra central locking problem

Hi

I'm really hoping someone can help me. I have a 2007 Nissan Micra C C which I've recently starting having problems with the central locking system. It started making a horrible buzzing noise when I locked the car using the central locking which seemed to be intermittent, just done it when it fancied. Then I starting having problems getting out of the car, the handle inside completely loses any tension like the door has been locked from the inside. I spoke to my mechanic who told me unlock the car by pressing the open button twice which seemed to fix the issue of getting out of the car however it has now gone back to awful buzzing noise when locking again. This started happening back last year but just seemed to stop for ages, then started again for a few days then completely stopped. It's been about 6 months since I've had the problem and now it's come back and doesn't seem to want to go. I've never had to press the unlock button twice on my car ever and I've had it for 6 years now so I know it pretty well.
Is this something anyone else has experienced or has any knowledge of, my mechanic has told me it's fine but it's really not. Never seems to make the noise when he tries it! I think my car is trying to show me up!!

I would be so grateful for any help on what I can do!

Well documented fault I'm afraid. Common on both Micra and Note models.

Oh great! Thank you for your reply, is this a case of just live with it? I can deal with the double unlocking but the awful buzzing noise is just worrying me that something has gone wrong somewhere!

With the noise you can just live with it, but the double locking sounds like an issue within the set up menu. A lot of Nissan's allow you to change the way the car unlocks within the menu settings. You can either have it just unlock the drivers door (for security reasons) and this is called "selective door unlocking" or have it unlock them all. You haven't accidentally altered the settings somewhere along the line have you?
A quick call to your local Nissan dealer or a read through the owners manual should reveal all.

Oh I see! I don't think I've changed it, If I have it was a complete accident! Il have a good read through the manual tonight and if not give Nissan a call. Thanks so much for your help

Yes, just live with it unless you want to pay a lot of money to have the central locking unit in the driver's door replaced.
If you want more than the driver's door to unlock then you must press the fob twice, it's normal.

That's fine, I can live with it as long as the central locking isn't going to break on me! I've never had to press the open button twice since I've owned the car for the past 6 years, one push has always opened both doors and the boot. Once to open once to lock. It's only been recently that the car won't let me out from inside unless I press the open button again. Getting in is fine with one push. Thanks for your advice

That sounds like your door lock is done. You should never have to press unlock twice to enable the driver's door to open and the interior handle sometimes not working is a serious safety concern. Shouldn't cost too much to put right.

This is what is concerning me, the not being able to get out. My car was MOT'd on Monday and passed with flying colours, never seems to happen when I take it in to be looked at, they just look at me as if I'm going crazy! Do you think it would be worth taking to Nissan instead? I'm happy to pay to fix it if it's broken but no one can seem to tell me what the problem is!

Have you tried your other fob? Does the other fob perform the same?

Has this problem with opening the door from inside occurred at the same time as the noise in the door?

You can have the central locking unit in the driver's door replaced but it will cost you a lot. I've seen these central locking units make this noise many times...they usually just annoy with the noise...people usually shy away from having the unit replaced due to the cost.
I'm a Nissan mechanic btw.
