No I haven't actually, I'll try that tomorrow. Sort of, the noise came first then randomly one day I went to get out of the car and couldn't open from the inside so couldn't get out. The not getting out carried on for about a week then completely went but the noise stayed. Then after a couple of weeks both completely went away and I thought it had gone. Then came back doing the same thing for a while then went again etc... it's pretty much gone on like that for a while. This is the longest time the handle hasn't worked getting out and the noise has started again. Funnily enough the handle getting out was fine all day yesterday and today but the noise is still there. It's completely intermittent which is frustrating. Out of interest what would I be looking at price wise to get it changed? I can live with it it's not the end of the world however I'm worried about the safety aspect of it, not being able to get out really worries me! Thanks for your reply!

The price for the central locking unit in the driver's door is approximately £92 including vat. Having the reg number would give me the exact detail, but I'm close at that...within a fiver or so....these used to cost around £150 but they seem to have come down in price.
Fitting should be around an hour in labour time, depending what hourly rate is normal in your area.
Try the other fob and see how that performs...if it is the same then I would guess that the central locking unit might well be your problem.

I've tried the second key and makes no difference. Thanks for finding that out for me, I was expecting worse! Really grateful for your help!

This is a easy fix and costs nothing if you competent with a screw driver, remove the door card and unscrew the 3 screws holding the door lock in place when you pull out the door lock carefully you will see a tiny silver pin sticking out use something to push the pin back onto the lock refit to car and the sound will be gone and locking will operate perfectly
