Rob Cross was very nice there towards Taylor - well done him. Lots of mutual respect for each other. So that's it for another year. Now let's see a new champion crowned.

Touché

Easily one of the best darts performances I've ever seen. Cross was phenomenal. And how in god's name can you not miss a double 18 in two rounds? Unbelievable.

Sad to see Taylor retire, the sport will miss him for sure. But is it destiny that Rob Cross will now replace him? From not wanting to get out of bed to go to a tournament, to beating the greatest on the biggest stage of all.

Sounds like a fairytale in the making to me!

And now we can prepare for the cream of the BDO.

WOOOOAAAHHH!

That’s an unfortunate example, but yes the gulf in class between the PDC and the BDO is never more clear to see than when these two tournaments are on straight after each other. You can’t knock the BDO players as they are doing their best, but they would all be out first round in the PDC.

I remember watching that game live and whilst I can't deny it had me in stitches, I really did feel for the poor bloke. It was just funny thinking of those times you'd watch someone performing on TV thinking 'I could do better than you' but on that occasion you genuinely could!

Still, there wouldn't be a PDC if it wasn't for the BDO and obviously most if not all of the biggest names started out there so you're absolutely right about not knocking the organisation. Whilst the quality isnt there I used to enjoy Lakeside on the BBC.

I've been through this one on a number of forums and it's spot on. Thiry years down the line and before the £££ sponsorship, the BDO was the premier tournament. There are many darts fans, I know, will still watch it and in some cases declare it is still the best competition.

We would not be where we are now without the BDO and what we must remember is that while it's now the underbelly, it's really the backbone of darts, nurturing new talent and promoting the game corporately.

I'game' in that sentence because there are some who will argue that darts isn't a sport. I'm polarised on that one as I think continually putting a dart into what for me is a microscopic area defies logic sometimes. I know it's from just a few feet away but, it's incredible all the same.

So the BDO tourno - bit of a laughing stock to many and while it's true I won't watch it, what that means is that like many, I'm swept away on the PDC tide. There were great finals and there may well be gerat finals to come. But if you only choose to watch the PDC you might well not know any of the players at Frimley Green.

Laughable. But that's the kind of thing you'll hear on TalkSPORT.

Rob Cross ended nothing. But I think he's certainly started something.

Lol the only person to end Taylors career was Phil himself.

Greg Hook Publish time 22-11-2019 05:00:56

I do much prefer the crowd at the BDO. It seems like they are there to watch the darts more and aren’t a bunch of pissheads as they are at the PDC. The booing at times was disgraceful.
