Hi,

Have a cat problem, & my boots were covered in it after I mowed the lawn this afternoon. :-|

Doubt if I can make the garden cat-proof, but if I knew where the cat was getting in from, I could at least raise the height of the fence there or something. But the visitor is nocturnal - a cat I presume - leaves 'presents' on the lawn, then disappears.

I put solar motion lights around the garden but they have not picked up the intruder, & anything sets them off, possibly even insects if they are persistent enough.

What are my options?

Could I get a 'night-vision' cam that I could place around the garden, then fast forward the footage next day perhaps, to see what turns up? Then there's the problem of light-source and battery lasting-power.

But suggestions welcome please.

Many thanks!

Probably fox’s poop as (afaik) cats prefer (when possible) to dig and bury their waste products!

Agreed with cats - I have never seen our two leave it uncovered in our garden.

I have an issue with a persistent Heron visiting my pond. Tried all sorts of things but the best deterrent/system has been a Ring security camera.  It’s saved me a fair few fish as the motion detector alerts me to view the camera and I can then activate the siren even if I’m not at home.

The only time he is sometimes successful is on early morning raids between 4-6am

The camera has also allowed be to go back and see who/what was digging up my lawn which turned out to be a badger. Got mine on offer for £139, so not cheap but worth it for me as nothing else worked. Mine is mains powered but they do a battery version too.

Doubt this, the poop unfailingly appears either side of an animal track in the lawn - where the grass has been laid flat - which runs straight from one side of the garden to the other. At the other end are dozens of scratch marks on the fence where the cat has climbed over. The neighbouring garden also has a cat & the cats scream & fight at night. That fence is also falling down now, years of being used as a spring board have worried the timber support post to a state of collapse - I have now shored it up on both sides.

Took me about 2 hours to clean my boots this morning, that stuff sticks like cement; have now put all my clothes in the wash. Disgusting.

Cat or fox, I need to spot where they are getting in, then I can at least try to make fences higher & so forth.

They are selling these on Amazonian - Victure IP66 Wildlife Trail Camera - any thoughts please?

Thanks. Bought a pair of these several years ago, they are both now quite dead, don't know what to do with them - possible burglar-scare if they are eyeing properties up in daylight and think there are devices about.

Here's one of the comments:

Tim, 13 August 2016: 1.0 out of 5 stars - "Failed after 7 months. If only someone could make a cat repeller that actually worked properly for a reasonable amount of time... Don't waste your money on these and think of a alternative to keep the cats out of your garden."
