Does anyone know a decent website that has ideas about retrofitting a different fitting into lamps?

I have some quite nice lamps that are currently using E14 fitting bulbs, but you can only use low profile bulbs.

I want to use Philips Hue bulbs in them and the Candle E14 is too high as top of the lamp, which is glass, then can't fit.

My options are:-

See if I can 'reseat' the fitting in the lamp stalk, in effect 'further down' the stalk giving more clearance at the top.

See if I can change the fitting in the stalk to maybe a GU10 which will throw the light up onto the covering frosted glass.

I've had a google around and thought finding a website that has people hacking different lamps and doing things like mounting fittings in bottles would be fairly easy to find, the problem is that google focuses on people selling stuff so that's what floods any results and I can't find a 'Heath Robinson' website that gives suggestions.

Thoughts?

Rather than moving the lamp holder, move the support bracket holding the frosted dome upwards. How much more height do you need for the candle bulb? You could fabricate a spacer to sit under the metal shade holder ring if you only need 5/10mm.

Good idea, but it would ruin the aesthetics of the lamp as the fitting would then likely show, I haven't measured but the Hue E14 candle bulb sits quite high

Here's what they look like from 'level' so give a, to me, pleasing impression.

Does this help to give enough clearance?

Hue E14 With External Diffuser Removed : Hue

Feels a bit wrong to butcher a bulb but worth a look.

Thanks Jamie

I already bought the GU10s and have ordered some GU10 replacement fittings off Amazon, sometime in the next few weeks I'll sit down and try to do one and see how it turns out,  I've got nearly 10 of these Kvintol lamps and they really are quite pleasant aesthetically, so looking forward to seeing if they 'work' using coloured bulbs.
