Christmas in Dubai

Can anyone recommend a nice/decent hotel to stay in Dubai over the Christmas period please.  Or has anyone used Airbnb over there?

I have had a look on TA but not sure where to stay which is central enough to do the main touristy things.  Is Deira too far out?

Budget would be looking to spend £1k pp, ideally want to be close to a beach.

Has anyone actually spent Christmas (and New Year's Eve) in Dubai?  What is it like?

We were not at christmas but in december in Dubai. We really enjoyed the time there. It was amazing to find such an amount of christmas decoration in an islamic country.
